Great host, great location, great amenities. Myself and 11 friends stayed here recently and we had an amazing time. ||The facilities were spot on, beds were comfy, good showers, really cosy and a huge dinning table for everyone to sit around. ||Fairly short walk into Tansley and then Matlock... mind the cows and the bull! ||Matt the host was great and has all the info you need on where to go, places to see, restaurants and pubs! ||Keep an eye out for the peacocks!

The booking process was so easy. Matt was very responsive, almost always answering any questions we had by return.||We had originally booked both The Barn and The Stables for a large family Christmas gathering of 12 people. Unfortunately, due travel issues we were unable to go at Christmas. Matt was really understanding, helping us to move dates a couple of times before we eventually settled on a long weekend break in The Stables for just 3 people.||The Stables is a really comfy house, well set up for 4 people. It was immaculately clean when we arrived. The lounge/kitchen/diner is well set up. There are two comfy sofa's with a wood burning stove and TV in the lounge area. The kitchen/diner is well equipped with all the usual appliances you would expect.||There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two singles. The beds were extremely comfortable, and we all slept like babies. In the grounds of the property there is a garden with a children's play area and climbing frame, as well as an eco wood, really pleasant to walk around.||The area around Holestone Moor Barns is very pretty, with some of the loveliest villages in the Peak District close at hand. We visited Matlock and Bakewell, as well as some of the village Well Dressings.||Matt even got the bbq out so we could cook outside one evening.||Because the walls of the The Barn and The Stable are so thick, it is one of those places that doesn't get too hot in summer or too cold in winter.||We also had a look around The Barn, which would be a fabulous for a Christmas gathering. There are 5 double bedrooms each with a bathroom. The dining room is huge, and the table can easily accommodate 14 people.||Would highly recommend Holestone Moor Barns for either a short or longer break. The accomodation is fabulous and Matt is a wonderful host.

We had a WONDERFUL family weekend at Holestone Moor Barns to celebrate a significant birthday. We flew in from Austria, our daughter and family flew in from Switzerland, and our son and family drove over from Yorkshire. We knew from the website that the accommodation would be amazing – but it exceeded our expectations! Sitting round the large dining table for the last breakfast we discussed what we would remember: the games room (adults as well as children), the peacocks, making bows and arrows in the wood by the pool, seeing a newborn calf stagger to its feet, peace and quiet in The Stables whilst the children played hide and seek in The Barn. We managed to drag everyone out a few times – a walk through the woods and fields to Ashover for a pub lunch at The Old Poets' Corner, Sunday lunch at The Gate at Tansley (both excellent), a drive through stunning scenery to Matlock, with a stroll and ice creams in the lovely Hall Leys Park.|Thank you, Matt, for replying so promptly to my email queries, for the warm welcome, and giving us a weekend which we will remember for years.

Fantastic home from home accommodation. As a group of friends we walked the Derwent Valley Heritage trail and other great walks in the area, using Holestone as our base. It had everything we needed for our catering, and was clean, warm and welcoming. We were truly blessed with the weather, managing to have tea and cake outside for every day but one. If only the wonderful Matt could organise that every time! The cakes supplied were fantastic and the chickens and peacocks enjoyed the crumbs. We have already booked again for next year to further explore the area.
