The first good things about this hotel are it’s close proximity to the M1 and 10 minute walk from its nearest rail station Dodworth. Also the spacious car park is free and safe. |Arriving at the hotel, it has a lovely spacious reception area and I was greeted by the lovely Sheena who was most helpful. |The room 214 had been recently refurbished and was very comfortable and spacious. It had a bath with shower, air conditioner, a very comfortable bed and, unusually for many hotels, plenty of good lighting. Besides the odd neighbouring door being heard closing, I heard very little else. The smart tv is mounted on soundproofing material. |The breakfast was the usual fare and was fine, I had 3 evening meals there and they were delicious. I can definitely recommend the Chicken Kiev as my favourite there. The waiting and bar staff were all friendly and helpful and helped make my stay a happy and comfortable one. Not forgetting housekeeping who did a great job every day. |One minor gripe - please fix the dripping sink tap that also has a poor hot water flow. The bath and shower taps had perfect hot water flow.

Stayed here for 2 nights for a wedding at Cannon Hall with eve reception at the holiday inn. This hotel is simply vintage and has an old charm about it. Yes it's dated, dark brown furniture however what makes it special are the staff. A proper northern welcome and friendly on reception. Big thank you for the taxi recommendation veezu who were also excellent. Room was again dated but had new carpet, was clean and had air con. Breakfast was buffet style and was good quality albeit did have to wait on first morning for items to be topped up. The evening wedding function was a good size room, drinks little expensive but the food was fab with excellent service. Only negatives, we had read you could use the pool at Bannatyne which was incorrect so no swim. I got splinter off the double doors to our room which was painful and our door handle came off!. However I would use this hotel again as the staff are wonderful, fab team. If you venture out the Dodworth tap is lovely pub and beer garden, plus the food at the travellers inn was fabulous.

Absolutely love his hotel. The staff are amazing and like my second family these days as I go for business all of the time. |Natasha, Timi, Sheena and Ross on reception are so friendly and always warm and welcoming. Nothing is a problem for them. Also Sarah and Trafford are so friendly and helpful at breakfast. The bar staff are very nice too. |They are just in the process of refurbishing the rooms which makes it even nicer. Would recommend to all.

Experience overall was ok. Rooms are spacious and comfortable.The toilet flush was playing up .there is no safe in the room or mini fridge.
The food which was included in our package was tasteless …apart from the Sunday lunch .
Breakfast was good.at the peak times …it was difficult getting a table for breakfast and also the staff were not quick enough to clear the used tables.
Location good.Bar good.Conference room size adequate.
Tea/coffee was served with snacks which was good.

Very good stay. Breakfast was included with the rate and well worth it. Freshly cooked and plenty of options.

Only let downs are the rooms aren't soundproof and a neighbour next door was blasting his TV all night. Staff were quick to sort it when informed though.

Other issue was the shower pipe was split.

Staff were amazing and friendly. Would definitely recommend as the rooms were spotless, comfortable and welcoming.

Old shabby and bad food. Rooms are outdated I had an upgraded rooms|Nd it was horrible. No tea or coffee making . Hard bed with bad pillows. Tv didn’t work. Breakfast cold and dark in the room. Just horrible. Won’t stay here agin. Staff are nice and it’s well located but that’s about all.

A mixed bag with plenty of good but I couldn't stay again.

The welcome from reception and bar staff was as good as anywhere. Very friendly and pleasant and on the face of it authentic too.

Bar was well stocked and had decent whiskies, room looked ok and bed/pillows comfortable. Shower powerful and hot.

But...that's where the good ends. On entering the room it was a bit weird, kind of like the rooms were left on the latch with the rooms not locked or doors fully closed. I didn't like this and I am sure a female traveller would not have felt safe.

There was a chemical odour from air freshener throughout the building.

The worst aspect was paper thin walls. I was in 118 and my neighbours (on a week night) were up until 4am. I heard every "hawk tuah" , I may as well have been in the same room. All in all I think they did it 3 times but to be awake at 4am and hear the sound of skin slapping on skin as yhe bed head was repeatedly banged against my wall and the accompanying sound of "adult" joy was too much and has left me shattered for a day at work the next day.

Maybe other guests didn't get the pleasure of these love cats but I couldn't take the risk of another sleepless night.

Had Christmas dinner at this venue on Christmas day and spent £70 per head. Deputy managers Response upon complaint was as below. It is calling our party of 9 liars. We where not shown to our table and the high chair was dirty with a napkin over the top of the dirt. We where not asked for drinks until prompted and refused to be served at the bar. apparently table service only ( non existent ) the food was terrible and apparently we are making it up as per deputy manager response below. please see photos below and let potential wedding and party's make their own mind up this has been escalated to head office with case number. Basically book here and once they have taken your money tough. think it must have changed management as we have had a family wedding here and attended theme nights previously |||| We have been contacted by IHG head office and offered 20k points which at first we declined as this is pittance in respect to the service received. Then tried to accept this to be totally ignored on multiple attempts to contact them.||||If you have booked I would think again and go elsewhere or put the money to something worth while
