We only stayed here for one night, however it was better than expected!
Great location to get around town. Food was good and bed was comfortable!
Check in was very simple and easy, my only complaint was we arrived back very late around 3am and my card wouldn't open the main doors had to stand and knock on the glass for like 10 minutes to get in.
Breakfast was great, lots of selection. Coffees were good and fresh juice!
The rooms carpet and skirting was quite dirty. The shower tray also had a few marks but apart from that bed was clean!

I would like to begin by saying the staff at this hotel were excellent, we stay all around the UK and abroad and the staff did the hotel proud, but that's where the compliments stop.

I am a wheelchair user and judge everything by it's accessibility, although they are a town centre location they provide a drop off point for customers, although this is mainly clogged with cars parked in the way. In to the lobby and the check in desk and ipads are instantly too tall for a wheelchair user to be made comfortable. We had to travel up to the next level by lift to catch the lift to our room on the 6th floor - noticeably one of the three main lifts was out of action, not brilliant for a hotel with 19 floors of accommodation as we would find out the following morning.

Upon arrival on the 6th floor we easily tracked our room down as the one furthest from the lifts, we had booked an accessible room, but the first thing I encountered was a large wooden lip of approximately 15mm to traverse to enter the room, intriguing for an accessible room!

The room was spacious, plenty of room for me to guide my wheelchair around without issue - however, the room lacked plug sockets, the emergency cord was way to short to help someone stranded on the floor, the security latch was missing off the room door, the bathroom door did not shut or open properly, something was clearly missing from the bathroom wall, the bed was placed directly under a window, making sitting up in bed extremely uncomfortable.

The following morning we had to wait 12 minutes for a lift to go down to breakfast, this was not the hotel's fault but lazy people with legs that work, using the lift instead of taking a stroll down the stairs.

Upon check in we had been warned that the wheelchair lift up to the restaurant was not working and had not been working for at least 2 years!!! and that we would have to travel around the outside of the hotel and into another entrance, however, we were not prepared for the actual event. We left the hotel and had to wait by the big gates guarding the rear entrance, when escorted through, we were in the back yard with cigarette butts and pigeon excrement everywhere - the experience was humiliating and made me feel like a common beggar asking for food. On our way back out (the same way) cars were parked in the no parking zone, thus making getting past extremely difficult in a wheelchair. The experience was awful and degrading.

First time using this hotel and TBH for the price we were not expecting a lot. However, on arrival we found a very welcoming staff who had excellent knowledge of the local area and eateries.
The room was large, clean and well facilitated, with a big shower cubicle and excellent water pressure.
The hotel bar was well stocked and the bar staff friendly and helpful.
The recommended Hen & Chicken Curry house was within 5 minutes walk and was excellent.
Breakfast was included in the price and again was so much more than we expected considering the price paid.
The highlight of the stay was definitely the Staff, be it the reception, the cleaners, the bar staff and especially the restaurant staff at breakfast, they were all friendly, polite and excellent ambassadors for the Hotel
Will definitely be back

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Holiday Inn Express Birmingham, and I must say, the service was nothing short of outstanding. From the moment I arrived, Scott and the front of house team went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable.

The check-in process was smooth and efficient, with warm smiles and a genuine willingness to assist. My room was immaculate, well-appointed, to a quiet floor, which considering the volume of highly energised football supporters visiting the City must have been no small task.

Throughout my stay comfort and value felt like a priority with the team always being courteous, professional, and with a genuine attention to detail really personalised the stay away experience.

Overall, my stay was exceptional, customer service was second to none, location perfect for work and leisure and I will highly recommend colleagues, family and friends take the opportunity when presented to stay next time they visit Birmingham.

Great job, well done!

It’s good value and clean. ||It’s fairly simple and our breakfast was included in the price. The room was basic but had everything we needed and the mattress was comfortable and firm. ||The hotel room was a little dark and the two small lifts were struggling to cope with the amount of people. Corridors might need a bit of sprucing up soon ||Breakfast was standard stuff but significantly watering down the breakfast juices (so they taste like squash) is cheap and gives the impression that other corners are cut. ||I’d stay again but it’s functional rather than somewhere to get excited about. ||Staff were friendly.

We booked this as we were going to the Utilita Arena for a concert. I can only say we were very impressed. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean with a fabulous shower. Had a good nights sleep with very comfy bed and pillows. The self service breakfast was all fresh and hot with plenty of choice. The Utilita is only a mile walk away so great place to stay if your going there. You can park your car around the corner with a 55% discount when you stay at the hotel. It gets 10 out of 10 from us.

Everything in the hotel was great, other than the lifts to get us up and down to the 5th floor with our luggage. Only 2 out of the 3 lifts were working, and after waiting a good 15 mins, we still had to use the stairs as the lifts were so busy. Felt sorry for those on floors above. Other than that, the rooms were fine, with comfy beds and a decent shower.

Can’t understand the bad reviews. Some of the hotel is a little tired (carpets in particular) but my room was spotlessly clean and the bathroom and furniture felt relatively modern. Huge smart TV which is a big plus when travelling to work and free access to a small gym. Breakfast was fine too, not a huge selection but it was free and did the job. I had a great view from the 17th floor too.
