On arrival the EV chargers were not yet installed. Also only options to get to reception is either up some stairs (one person in our party had mobility issues) or walk in the road with cars whizzing in and out. The reception staff I found were not the friendliest apart from a male receptionist who was working on Saturday morning (12/04/25). To get to the rooms you have to walk down a flight of stairs with suitcases, again not ideal for our party and there problems with the lift closing and opening before it took us up to our floor. The room was clean but very basic. I could hear every word of my neighbours conversation in the morning and probably he heard mine. A young lady in the bar was lovely and got us ice for our flasks.
The decor in the bar and reception is really lovely.
Overall a pleasant stay, good value for money but very much a basic 3 star for me.

If I could give 0 stars I would. This place is quite obviously run down, the towels weren’t clean, followed by the bathroom being dirty. The windows are absolutely tiny in the rooms so if you’re a smoker that SMOKES OUTSIDE ONLY, they will accuse you of smoking in the room due to their lack of ventilation, we was charged £100 for this misunderstanding. We was both so annoyed T the situation but we wasn’t going to give them the reaction they was quite clearly wanting. We both drink coffee regularly but the kettle was that disgusting we couldn’t. And the staff all act as if they hate their jobs. For the type of service they are offering here, they need to consider putting their prices down. Would rather sleep in a tent tbh.. (a tent would probably have more ventilation than the box rooms they provide you with)

Stayed here a few months back. Loved it.

The hotel is nice and clean, and it looks lovely too!
Staff are super friendly and helpful.
My dog loved it here. He especially loved all the attention he got from staff and other guests.
Breakfast was awesome! Well cooked, the chef did a great job, and the selection was brilliant.
Free parking, with lots of spaces available.

The reception honestly made the stay perfect she was super help and greet the kids with little gift boxes. We had been a long drive so to be greeted with some so kind and welcoming made us feel so happy and relaxed. The room had plenty of room was clean. Had everything needed for a quick layover.

Absolutely lovely stay in the hotel. Really clean
Food was cooked well and nicely presented. Chef came and asked if food was good. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Reception were very helpful and polite

Had initial problems with the room but quickly resolved. Very happy with the service offered, complimentary drink and a snack offered. . We were given free snacks and drinks on arrival the next dayl and would highly recommend

Not good Experience this time at IHG Holiday Inn ……

I have stayed at different other IHG Holiday Inn hotels including Portsmouth and Doncaster earlier this year and last year. The standards were very high but at Wakefield M1 Junction Holiday Inn was not upto IHG standards. Rooms carpets were not cleaned. Some Towels have marks on them. Bathroom floor and shower area was not properly cleaned.
I will not recommend my friends or family to visit there.
I have asked the receptionist who sounds Eastern European accent to change my rooms as they are not upto standards but she refused to help me.

Always stay at IHG hotels and have stayed here before however not again, EV chargers advertised but never in use.

Breakfast was good but evening meal was poor.

Reception, bar and restaurant very nice and all modern however the rooms are dated, in disrepair and you have a TV from 2001 in your room. The heating was also stuck on so room was too hot.
