Had a fantastic stay here for two nights. Rooms are smart, clean with very comfortable beds.
The breakfast was delicious; pastries, cold meats cheeses, fruit and all the fried food that you can eat! Fresh food was being brought out all the time.

We found the experience to be just okay. The hotel feels a bit outdated and could benefit from some maintenance and attention to detail.

We asked to extend our stay by one more night and mentioned the lower price we saw online, but the front desk offered a higher rate without making any effort to match it, which was disappointing.

Breakfast was quite standard—nothing particularly special. The location is a bit far from the city center, but manageable if you have a car or use public transport, as the bus service is convenient.

Overall, it's a decent place for a short stay, but there's definitely room for improvement in both service and facilities.

Certain aspects of this hotel are fine, other aspects less so.||Room was clean and size was ok for one night. but certain things like the bed base needed repair. ||The en-suite is small and there’s no extractor fan therefore very steamy after a shower etc. ||Reception staff are friendly and helpful. ||Breakfast was, overall, good. Plenty of choice including nice fruit, cold hams, cooked breakfast items and pastries. The only complaint at breakfast would be the quality of the sausage - not good! The gluten free items which was appreciated. ||At the hotel rear entrance, to the car park, there were lots (hundreds) of cigarette butts - disgusting! ||Good sized car park and location is good, close to the racecourse and city centre.

Great stay here setting up for a day out in York. Good location only a short and scenic walk from the city centre and racecourse. The building is a little older and rather brutalist and the bathroom was very small, but everything seems well looked after. There were some technical issues at reception when we arrived, so our booking wasn’t showing on the system, but Joe dealt with this very professionally and still ensured to make us feel welcome. We had a nice meal in the restaurant in the evening too - the steak wasn’t the best cut, but Emanuel really looked after us. Both he and Joe are a credit to the hotel. We will definitely stay here again as we are in York quite frequently.

We booked an overnight stay and were very pleased with our room, its location and the service we received.
The room was modern, airy and comfortable. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and the bar and restaurant areas and facilities were excellent.
The hotel has a large car park and offers free parking. It’s on an excellent bus route into the city centre, we had no difficulty getting to and from the hotel quickly with a single journey costing just £3.00, much less than it would have been to park.
We were checked in by Joseph on reception and his Custer service was excellent and certainly deserves a mention, he couldn’t have been more helpful. We were slightly early, he got us a room allocated as quickly as possible and checked us in before giving us all the relevant bus information and a complimentary drink for the birthday we were celebrating. Thank you so much.

We stayed at this hotel in oct 2024, for my husbands Birthday, the hotel is lovely, and the staff, were very welcoming, and assisted us when we nèed anything. The rooms and the public areas are lovely. Food was great value, and delicious. I love the location of the hotel, easy access to the city without being in the mix of it all. Will definetly be back. I had a fantastic stay at Holiday Inn York! The hotel is in a great location, with easy access to the city centre and beautiful surroundings. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, making sure I had everything I needed. My room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with all the essentials. The breakfast was delicious, offering a variety of options to suit all tastes. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting York!

Booked last minute, got premier room with breakfast. Easy check inn, very friendly staff. Room was large, double bed, couch and table, dresser with large TV. Mini fridge which had water and snacks, great touch!
Bathroom on the small side (only reason for 4*) but adequate, the shower was powerful and complimentary toiletries a bonus.
Bed and pillows are super comfy.
We had a quick drink in the bar before heading off into York centre, which took around 30 minutes (including having a nosy at the houses along the way)
Breakfast was great, lots of choice on the continental, sliced meat, cheese, salads, fruits, yogurts, cereals, danish pastries etc. Hot selection plentiful, bacon, sausage (decent and I'm wary with sausage) grilled tomato, mushrooms, button mushrooms, hash browns, scrambled and fried eggs, however you can order boiled, poached and omelette as well. Think hot breakfast is around £15 with continental just under £10. Both options well worth the money, everything was fresh.
Ate in the restaurant one night, had the 3 plates for £25, crab cakes, salt & pepper chicken and sticky ribs, again all really good and perfect portion sizes for sharing.
Everywhere clean, all the staff friendly, great night's sleep followed by good breakfast, perfect cheeky weekend away and would definitely return.
