Just got back from a "just go holidays "short break from 6th-9th September with my mum. I'm partially disabled. We were on the first floor room 1. The room was clean and tidy and had kettle and cups in with teabags, sugars and coffee to make a hot drink and if we needed more we could help ourselves on the reception desk. Our room was quite big and had a crucible shower in the bathroom which was quite big.|The owners Wayne and carrie were so lovely, very friendly and we were made to feel welcome from when we got there until we left. Carrie was a delight a very down to earth woman who worked very hard, around the hotel and in the kitchen and dining. The meals we got a 3 course which we chose by filling a form out to what we wanted ar breakfast to have that evening and the meals were a really good size. The breakfast was beautiful choice of fresh fruit, cereals, toast and jam and English fry up. The Sunday carvery was spot on so nice and plenty of it. |We had singers in the evening which they were fab! |The hotel is 200 years old and yes the owners have only had it for over a year and they have done so much to the hotel since having it. Would definitely stay here again. I read some not some good reviews before going so was a bit worried but we had the best time in this lovely hotel, very big clap ? to all the staff who work there they deserve it. Just like to day they don't have a lift to get to your room but the staff will take your case to your room and day of checkout they will bring it down the stairs once left outside your door..where would you get that service I've stayed in quite a lot of hotels and never had that before. Absolutely ? hotel and staff.

Went by coach for a four night stay and have to say it was very disappointing. For the price we paid we didn't expect luxury but it was pretty awful.Tatty inside and out, mould round the window in our room and a leak in the ceiling near our room which required a bucket. One good point is that the breakfast was really good!! but the evening meals were dreadful, very basic food badly cooked and presented. Two steep flights of stairs to the rooms that some of our group really struggled with. It might be lovely one day with a huge amount of money spent on it but we certainly wouldn't want to stay there again at the moment. The location is great but the hotel isn't. Best of luck to the owners, I hope one day it will be wonderful.

Had a great weekend at Holliers as part of a coach party. Food was good. Room clean. Beds comfortable. Staff friendly & helpful. Hope to go back next year. In my view this was good value for money. My thanks to Carrie & her excellent staff. You made a good weekend, great.

We rented a Cottage in Shanklin just near to Holliers and popped in for the Carvery.
As we both no longer eat meat it was a plate of Vegetables for us both.
We were told it was a single visit only to the Carvery selection but guests were welcome to pile their plates high. I didn't need a second invitation!!
The vegetables were cooked to perfection, carrots and parsnips with a desirable crunch not soft. The roast potatoes were not overcooked as often found.
There was a moderate selection of other vegetables.
The staff were pleasant and friendly and the food was delicious.
There is a play area for children too and some fish that can be fed with fish food purchased from the bar.
I would definately visit Holliers again

In need of some work as a tired aging building. New owners have made a start but have a big job. Staff are so friendly and obliging a real family feel. Excellent carvery on Sundays and very good full English breakfast. Lovely location in Shanklin close to the pretty old village.

Holliers Hotel may well be historic but it is very tired, shabby and run down. The exterior grounds (and fish-pool area) are very unloved. The hotel rates 2 stars which possibly flatters it. There is little good to say about this place however two things deserve a fair mention: The place is well located and on our Go Holidays visit the manageress and young staff were cheerful, helpful and well-meaning. So, a big thanks to them - against the odds you made our stay tolerable.

Nice hotel in the old village part of Shanklin within easy reach of the shops, bars and restaurants as well as Shanklin chine. Hotel is in need of some upgrade, but the owners are honest to admit they are still in the process of doing so having bought it last year. I'm okay with that. Elderly people, with mobility issues, will find access to the upper floors difficult as there is no lift and access to the seafront also as it requires walking up and down steep slopes. Owners were very friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast and a choice of evening meals - food was excellent, just don't expect fine dining. Good value for money.

The whole place needs a massive update. Shower very bad, water just trickling. No shower, only hand, which does no work. The food was lovely. Bed was very bad, very springy whole body aching when you get up. Very minimalistic hotel. Very run down. Very outdated.
