The room was great- not huge, but clean and new-looking carpet with a good bathroom. I didn’t need 4 posts on the bed ( they get in the way when you go to the toilet in the dark!) but the bed was very comfortable. The room was warm ( without heating on) but the window opens wide . The food was fine ( a wider choice of pizza toppings would be good though) All the staff, especially the young girl serving at our table, were very friendly and accommodating. The price we paid was good for the room. A bit of tlc in the corridors would give a warmer welcome but we are not complaining. Overall we would recommend.

We were looking at prices for rooms and found a room here for £88 per night on the hotel’s website, we then checked booking.com and it was £77 per night. We called the hotel as their website says they will “happily refund the difference to you and beat the lower price by a further 10%”. The girl at reception said she could not match the price it would need to be booked first then she could honour their ‘best rate guarantee’. After booking I emailed to ensure that this would be done and I was told that if I wanted to book with booking.com go ahead and do it. NOT a great customer experience, NOT adhering to their own policies and NOT exactly welcoming, professional or friendly Chloe. I think the hotel needs to deliver some key staff training around politeness and professionalism and take down their best price guarantee from their website if you are not willing to adhere to it.

Excellent location, we booked the superior double bedroom for one night and there was plenty of free parking at the property. Check in was quick and the room was huge with shower and a bathtub. The bed was super comfortable and we had an iron and ironing board, some coffee, tea and milk and a kettle for tea making facilities. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. There was a wedding on the day we checked in, so all the staff were pretty occupied to serve the wedding guests most of the time, including the staff from the reception. There was no one on the reception desk most of the time and we had to wait till a staff arrives to serve us. The WIFI was not strong and kept disconnecting all the time.There was no TV remote in the room and once we informed the staff they said it should be there but never bothered to come and check it for us as they said they are too busy with the wedding. So we couldn’t really watch TV. I can understand there was a wedding but there are other guests who are booked to stay in your hotel and except a good service which I feel was not delivered upto the mark. Had to wake up at 2am to loud noises from other guests who were standing outside our room and talking loudly, when tried to check out next morning no one on the reception desk so left the keys on the desk and left. Overall the rooms were good but the value of money per night for the service you would except is not great.

Popped in for breakfast after a dog walk. Lovely relaxed vibe, a warm welcome with with our dog. So comfortable. Great coffee, pastries and fresh fruit. |Great service. Friendly, chatty and nothing too much trouble. |Beautiful views. |Looking forward to going back for a Sunday lunch.

The building and location are beautiful, however indoors have been let go a little.
Positives: Large rooms, comfy beds and lush towels, beautiful grounds
Downsides: bathroom cleanliness, no remote for air con (so couldn't use), chrome on metal in bathroom peeling off (my wife had her hand cut and shards of metal stuck in her hand), furniture fell apart when used (drawer).
Has the potential and the bones to be a fabulous hotel, but just not there.

Lovely staff who all have a welcoming manner and brilliant customer service.|Very picturesque hotel and you can tell that the staff really take pride in the place and what they do. |The food was lovely. The evening meal was very enjoyable. I will be coming back

We stayed one night and that was enough, the hotel is tired and rundown.|Our room no 32 in the attached block at the rear of the hotel it was ok the bathroom had been refurbished. |However we found the public areas and staircase to be shabby and not even vacuumed.||The worst part is in the small conservatory the flagged floor is filthy from obviously years of food spills and foot traffic to a point it’s sticky.|The cloth covered chairs in this area were very heavily solid on the sides to a point I would not touch them .||Our Secret Escape deal included a two course evening meal with a bottle of wine , from a limited menu of six main courses of which two were unavailable.|The service was slow but very polite the food I would say was very average but reasonable portions. ||So unfortunately I know we won’t be going back and I could not recommend to anyone else.

Beautiful and secure setting. Could do with a Maitre D of mature standing and maybe one or two more bar or waiting on staff, as no rush to serve business clients. Catering more to the grey £££ instead of the working pocket. None of main options available on this date. Only burger, fish and chips and pizza. Not restaurant food imo. Beautiful surroundings and pleasant employees nonetheless
