We didn't stay over, just used the restaurant. I have to say the staff were very helpful and pleasant, but the food was awful. I ordered the steak pie and for the first time, I couldn't eat it. It was fatty, gravy looked more like brown water! It was really bad. We also ordered a sharing platter which was lovely. It had sausage rolls, scotch egg etc. This made up for the awful main.

I wouldn't choose to eat here again. The place itself was lovely and staff faultless.

Stayed here for several days and the park setting is lovely and relaxing. There are 3 floors, the even numbered rooms face the trees with no view and less light. The odd numbers face the pub marquee and garden seating. I was surprised that the hotel part, which is newer than the pub, has no air-conditioning or cooling system. There's a desk fan in the room but as there are only USB sockets next to the bed, the fan can only plug in at the desk area. A fan is simply not sufficient to cool the room and talking with other guests, they all commented on how hot the rooms are. It was nice to have a bath, the bathroom was in need of maintenance, water had leaked from the bath screen and warped the bath cladding. Door hinges were totally rusted. Our room was cleaned daily but the shelf in the bathroom was not cleaned for 2 days, I purposely moved the toiletries to allow cleaning and it was still left dirty. I would add that it might be best to take your own pillow as they are quite plump with no alternatives. We had breakfast each day which was okay. It would be nice to include porridge, pancakes or omelettes. The eggs benedict were very vinegary and the sauce was gloopy. The continental breakfast was as you'd expect with breads, cereals, muesli, fruit and pastries. This is a budget hotel, reasonably priced.

We had our wedding reception here on Saturday 7th June 2025. From the day we booked it over a year ago to midnight on the day, we cannot recommend Laura, Jade and the rest of the staff highly enough. It was just brilliant from start to finish. From the staff, DJ, fabulous food and everything in-between absolutely faultless. We would definitely recommend this venue for anyone wanting a wedding venue. Thank you to everyone involved and making our day truly memorable 🥰

Fabulous 3 night stay at the Holmfield Arms. Quick and easy check in thanks to the lovely lady on reception on Monday.
Room very presentable and a lovely comfy bed, and tidy bathroom although the shower could have been a bit more powerful.
Food excellent on every evening, although service was a bit raggedy on Wednesday for some reason? But no complaints regarding the food or the value.
Location is good for getting into Wakefield and for a little walk around the 3 parks which surround the hotel.
Definitely recommend it and will be back again.

Had my dad's funeral wake here outside in the marquee.|The whole day was the best it could be from start to finish. Lovely food. Staff very friendly. Beautiful grounds. I am coeliac so the buffet was a no no for me however they were hospitable in providing me with a GF menu.|I would highly recommend

Had a lovely one night stay here last week. Nice location in the park, plenty of parking, clean warm and comfortable room of good size, very big comfy bed, lovely to have a bath too! Very quiet except other doors closing. Had great breakfast choice in the pub in the morning and was very handy for where we needed to be, plus not too expensive. Would happily stay again! Thank you.

Staff at the bar and restaurant not up to much. At breakfast was treated really poorly. No instructions given, told off for using the wrong coffee machine, no milk, no spoon, showed us to our table, complaining that someone else had already said they were room 24, as if that’s my fault, and how they were short staffed, again, not my problem, didn’t even wipe the table properly leaving us to do so, ordered breakfast, it didn’t turn up, and after 30 minutes, when we were the only ones left there, I asked where was it, and then shortly after the wrong order turned up, but I ate it anyway and yes, it was cold! So not great really.
Hotel itself really nice and the woman at reception was really friendly as well!

Mel was our waitress and she went above and beyond to make my daughter’s birthday special . She looked like she was running the place single handed but her service didn’t show it. She really did everything she could, from my eldest ordering a meal that was too spicy and sorting it for us, to putting a candle in my other daughter’s dessert for us to celebrate her birthday. You deserve recognition from management . Unfortunately my chips were cold , but apart from that everything else was lovely.
