Hearing positive opinions about Hooked, I decided to try it out for myself. I walked in during dinner time, and although there were no available tables, the staff kindly offered me a seat at the bar table. I ordered scallops, mussels, and king tiger prawns as starters—all of which were fresh and delicious. For the mains, I had the mushroom truffle pasta and the fish of the day, which was John Dory. The fish was incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked. The staff were friendly, and the overall experience was excellent. Highly recommend

Hooked: A Welcome Return and Delightful Dining Experience
We recently revisited Hooked after a few years, and we were pleasantly surprised by the changes! The interior has been redesigned, with the open kitchen relocated to expand seating capacity. Despite the changes, the staff remain as helpful and welcoming as ever. We were particularly grateful to see the addition of a ramp at the entrance and an easily accessible disabled toilet, which was very helpful as my wife recently had foot surgery.
For starters, we both enjoyed the delicious mussels. Hooked was incredibly accommodating, preparing my wife's portion with a dairy-free sauce due to her intolerance, and it was still absolutely delightful.
Our main courses were the fish curry and the shellfish platter for one. Both dishes were lovely, and the shellfish platter offered a generously sized portion. My only minor quibble was the slight messiness of de-shelling the large prawns. The bread served with our meal was light and tasty, though we found the sea salt a little too prominent for our preference.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable meal, and we found the prices to be reasonable. It's also worth noting that Cornwall Pard cardholders receive a 15% discount.
Thank you, Hooked, for a wonderful dining experience!

The food was fantastic. Loved everything we tried. Would recommend booking as we turned up for dinner without booking and they didn't have space for us so we had to come back an hour later.

We’ve been in Cornwall for 4 nights and had dinner here twice! An amazing and delicious seafood restaurant: excellent cooking and very fresh seafood itself. The flat iron steak is great as well. very friendly and attentive service, highly recommend!

We visited Hooked for a pre theatre meal while in Truro and were very impressed. Loved the decor and the atmosphere in the restaurant and all the staff were so friendly and helpful, it has a great vibe. The food was so tasty, I had the Hake Kiev which was really good and tasted so fresh. Overall a great experience and will definitely be returning.

The good stuff first:
The staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. Service was prompt without feeling rushed, and everyone we interacted with seemed to care about making our visit pleasant. The atmosphere was lovely—inviting, nicely lit, and perfect for catching up over a meal.

The not-so-good:
Unfortunately, the food fell flat. Dishes arrived looking great, but the flavors were disappointingly bland. At one point, I found myself instinctively reaching for the salt… only to realize there wasn’t any on the table—which honestly summed up the experience pretty well. On top of that, portions were small, especially for the steep prices.

Bottom line:
Go for the friendly service and cozy vibe. Just don’t expect to be wowed by the food—or to leave completely full

This was our second visit to here albeit two years apart. We can praise the staff enough. One of our party of four is in a wheelchair and the staff were so helpful without making anyone feel awkward.
There has been a few changes for the better since our last visit, like the toilet has been moved downstairs
As for the food it was amazing just like before. Great place to eat great atmosphere and wonderful staff

The power of Google as we would not have happened on Hooked without the reference. A rainy lunch time and we fancied some really good fish and chips - friendly welcome , smart restaurant, good menu - a sense of quality about the place. Our fish and chips were excellent ( though i would rather the fish was not piled on top of the chips - I blame Masterchef as most restaurants now do this - i like to see what is on the plate and have nothing hidden) - really tasty. Coffee to finish. Excellent experience with professional service - thank you.
