Booked family quadruple room for 1 night. Room looked same as photos although I didn't notice /realize it was 2 sets of bunk beds .It was clean and had basic facilities which is what I expected for a budget hotel. Very quiet on the night and other guests looked like regular travellers. There was no reception but contact details given (didn't need to use so can't say how easy it would have been). How to enter was straight forward with all info sent by text. My only concern was the top floor hallway was very narrow which I personally don't like . Clear fire exit instructions as expected. Overall it was what I expected for the price. Basic but clean.

I saw all the bad reviews after I booked so was very concerned what I would find. I needn't have worried. The basement room had been redecorated recently. It was clean, bright and spacious.|This hotel is small but a good base for exploring Brighton.

My stay at the Horizon Hotel was the worst hotel experience of my life. From the moment I arrived, it was a nightmare. Issues arose at every turn, culminating in my early departure as soon as I could manage it.||||The most distressing incident occurred when I became trapped in my room from 8:00 PM to 1:30 AM due to a broken latch on the door lock. Once the door was closed, the faulty latch prevented me from leaving the room. To exacerbate the situation, the room did not have an ensuite bathroom, leaving me without access to basic facilities for several hours.||||Despite making numerous calls to both security and hotel management, no one was able to assist me. I was essentially imprisoned in a room without basic amenities for an extended period. I finally managed to check out at 8:00 AM, utterly exhausted and frustrated.||||When I requested a full refund for this appalling experience, my request was denied. The hotel management claimed that since I had used the room, they could not provide a refund and argued that they could not resell the room for that night. I pointed out that I was astonished they would consider selling a room with a broken door latch in the first place. I had only stayed in the room for 30 minutes before discovering I was locked inside. I conveyed this to the management, but they remained unhelpful.||||The lack of basic facilities and the inability to leave my room made this an unforgettable ordeal for all the wrong reasons. I will be sharing this dreadful experience with everyone I know to warn them about the horrendous conditions and poor service at the Horizon Hotel.||||After reading other reviews, I am not surprised to discover that this is the worst hotel in Brighton. I have video evidence and emails for anyone interested in taking this case further.

We checked out 15 minutes after checking in. The room was not at all what was described. It was so tiny my husband along with our two small suitcases hardly fit. There were holes in the walls, paper thin bed covers and paper thin walls. Had to wait forever for service at the desk. How on earth it received wonderful reviews on hotels.com is beyond me. I would write a personal letter if they had contact info. Plus it was 200 pounds! Stay away!!!!!!

There is no reception, and yet you cannot easily get ahold of anyone on the phone. Myself and another lady were outside for easily 45mins when we arrived. They happily contacted us to take our deposit, on top of room price, and then went silent as we were outside waiting for a “2nd” check in email. |The corridors smelt of smoke, and were dusty and dirty. ||Having communal toilets is fine, but soap would be nice…||The room itself was standard, appeared clean. But there was plastic under the bed sheet so very sweaty. The rooms were noisy with people banging around in the early hours, I did not feel safe.

I have booked a room for me and my wife and I want to express my disapointment in regards to the state of the room. We have paid £89 and everything is very dirty, from the carpet to the bathroom. We were forced to sleep somewhere else as the conditions were unbeareable and the smell in the room was disgusting. I am very dissapointed with this and I’m I’m not reccomending your place to anyone. I am expecting my deposit to be returned without any delay.. I attached some pictures..

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. Rooms AND building is filthy. rundown isn’t the word it’s more like a crack den meets concentration camp. Cant get hold of any staff even though their reception is apparently 24 hours. It’s impossible to get a reply for anything. They are quick to take your money but returning it is another matter. Still waiting for my £100.00 deposit to be returned 17 days tomorrow. How they take a deposit for that place is beyond me, you can’t possibly make that place any worse. Shower had no door just a curtain. We had a half used wet toilet roll left for us. We couldn’t even find hand soap! Which is absolutely just appalling. The beds were stained mattresses with a plastic sheet over. I genuinely couldn’t believe my eyes. We had no heating, all the walls and skirting are cracked chipped and terrible with paint slapped over it. We had dirty mugs in our room, half the plug sockets didn’t work, our door had definitely at some point been kicked as you could see a huge chunk of the wood missing in the lock of the frame. This is the first hotel I’ve ever stayed in where I haven’t wanted to take my shoes off.

But that’s not all. When I complained I got sent pictures to say it was similar and in fact they had not been misleading with the pictures. Laughable well, I’ve uploaded the pictures so you be the judge of that. No matter how cheap you need to budget a stay PAY MORE AND GO SOMEWHERE ELES!

Very inexpensive last minute deal. The hotel had work being done with scaffolding on the whole front (hence the price) and I was pleasantly surprised how clean and comfortable it was inside. Bed and room warm and good. Young man on reception helpful and friendly with an easy check in. Only complaint was that my room was at the very top up four flights then down one. I'm 82 and that wasn't easy! Despite that I enjoyed the stay.
