We're staying near by and saw this pub on Google maps. It's brilliant. We decided to go their for dinner on Saturday and Sunday night. Plenty of parking. Very nice inside. Staff are great and attentive. Food is great. Overall very well ran and I would return if I am in the area again! Thank you. David & Millie

We enjoyed a family celebration meal here on Saturday evening. The nine of us chose a variety of starters and mains and each dish was delicious. The service was faultless. Friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. So much so that we upped the 10% service charge on the bill to better reflect the quality of hospitality that we had received. Thank you H&G.

We had a mid-week dinner here on our mini-moon. Staff greeted us with Prosecco to congratulate us which was a lovely touch. Food was delicious. The celeriac and mushroom pie is as good as the reviews say. Service was very friendly. Would return!

Friendly service but very underwhelmed by the food. A prawn cocktail that was okay but lacked finesse, an undercooked small pork chop that had to be sent back, and was replaced by an even smaller one. Fish and chips was okay, but the crushed peas with it were not good - no mint or seasoning. And all terribly overpriced. Not quite sure why it was so bad as I had heard good things...

Popped in for a couple of drinks, decided to chance it for Sunday dinner on what was very clearly a busy service. So grateful to the staff for finding a gap for us to order some food because it was DELICIOUS. Everything cooked very well, not a dud on the plate, just a top notch roast all round. Lovely service, barman clearly passionate about the place, his team and the industry in general. If I'm ever in the area again I'd definitely want to come back!

The room is ideal to encourage you to explore the Inn and area. The town it too beautiful to stay in your room. Howeeever, the H&G Pub on the Hill is a perfect to mix and drink in the culture. We loved our stay. Oh yes, the service is phenomenal. They were helpful, informative, and take the time to chat.

Fantastic! Usually take friends or family here for Sunday lunch which never disappoints ..but called in Friday early evening on the off chance and sat in the bar for a early supper…quality menu really cosy and the staff couldn’t do enough for us really nice welcome ….puddings were sooo good ….thank you …see you again soon
