I booked and paid for two rooms believing that I was supporting a local hotel rather than a chain. When I arrived at the hotel, the door was locked and there was no one there. I rang the doorbell and called the number, but no one answered.

When I went to another hotel, the receptionist said that this happens frequently.

Thankfully, I found other accommodations.

So a number of negative reviews for this place, so from my perspective:||It's very central and located amongst the clubs of Norwich, and a short walk to the city centre and station ||It's clean and fairly no frills, but comfy bed and all the amenities you'd want for a night away ||Yes there's a nightclub underneath. I was fortunate to be on the top floor but could still hear it, so consider this if you're a light sleeper.||The room was a bit warm, and having the window open was not an option at night due to the noise downstairs, but they do provide a fan.||Tea and coffee etc are provided, plenty of power points, clean towels and a decent shower.||So if you're looking for a decent place to stay for one or two nights, and can deal with the noise or sleep through it, I'd recommend this place.

Definitely a case of you get what you pay for.|We were greated by a friendly staff member who had warned us about the noise from the club below, this wasn't a problem as we were on a girls night out for a birthday so didt plan on staying in the room, it was just somewhere to sleep at the end of the night.|On entering the building the hallway smelt like swetty bum and the room was even worse. The room was an ok size and definitely in need of some tlc and a hoover. The bathroom was disgusting 🫣 and did not get used!!!|We arrived back and the noise from the club was still going on past 3.30am, definitely not for you if you like your sleep. During the night I got bit countless times by gods knows what in the bed. I won't be returning as its the kind of hotel that is used for one thing and one thing only if you know what I mean!!!!

Stayed here for a few nights whilst visiting friends for a birthday party. Although it's above a nightclub the music didn't bother me too much as wasn't to loud but the emptying of glass bins every hr or so was more annoying I was on the 2nd floor at the rear of the building. Room was basic but not much more you could ask for at the price. Staff were welcoming and polite and room was clean what more do you want. If you don't mind a little noise it's not a bad place to stay. Would use it again in the future.

A rather run-down and shabby place. Disgusting smell in the corridor and on the staircase. The room was large but the double bed tiny.
Our windows overlooked the street with lots of night clubs on it, so there was a lot of sporadic shouting, loud laughing, and screaming during the night. The windows go all the way down to the floor, which makes the room very exposed to the outside world, and you have to keep the curtains closed at all times. Plus, there was fairly noisy traffic in the morning. To add insult to injury, an impatient cleaner kept knocking on our door in the morning, even though it was quite clear that we were still in.
What made things even worse, is that the reception isn't staffed. You can't call them, as the phone just keeps ringing and nobody answers. There is no answerphone. No mobile number. As a result, we couldn't leave our bags at the reception, as one usually does, on the last day when we were checking out...

First off this would have been a bit higher but for one thing. The bar underneath the hotel is not a bar. It’s a nightclub. There was non-stop noise until 4am. After that the street cleaners came out. We were doubly unlucky as it was 30°c during the day so we needed the windows open. If you’re going to Norwich for a night out and you’ll be out until then, you’ll be fine here. Maybe during the week when the club isn’t open as well wouldn’t be so bad. They should really disclose this before you book.||Aside from that the room was clean (although the fixtures and fittings are dated) and the bed was fairly comfortable. There was a fan provided which was very welcome! It is rough around the edges. The bathroom window didn’t open and there was no extractor fan so you need to be comfortable with whoever you’re staying with! The holder for the shower head was smashed so we had to hold the shower head by hand. The staff were nice and friendly and did warn us about the noise from the nightclub but at the point of check in it was too late.||Not the worst place I’ve ever stayed but I couldn’t go higher than a two star because of the noise.

The stench of human faeces was overpowering. I walked up the stairs and it only got stronger. My key didn’t work and I just gave up. Booked into another hotel from the street. Awful experience. Was informed later that it was a “drains problem. Avoid

Needed somewhere to stay as we were going to the gin & rum festival, and this place was only a few minutes walk away. Room was nice, host was friendly and wasn't too disturbed given its above a nightclub. Only one minor issue and that was one of the cups looked full of dust and there was only one tea bag. Not the end of the world, everything else was fine and we would definitely stay again. View of the cathedral from our room was an added bonus!
