On arrival, the property looked beautiful - there was a good car park to the rear of the property too. The doors to the reception were locked so we had to find an alternative route into the property through the dining room and had to search for a member of staff to point us in the right direction. Once reception was found, we were able to check in - however, we were not expecting to pay £15 a night for parking on top of the premium we already paid for our stay. As we were staying for three nights, we had the opportunity to waive the housekeeping (no making of the beds/bins) for the duration of the stay for a £7.50 voucher to spend at the bar for a drink each. Though, be mindful this has to be spent in its entirety and not put towards a drink. We were shown to our room which was really spacious and comfortable. The shower was nice and hot, though there was considerable mould around the window/vent which was hidden by a blind. The property is an old period house, so mould is expected, though perhaps better managed in a wet area by a better extractor. The bedding was lovely, clean and comfortable though we were missing some additional pillows which we had to ask at reception for some more. We were informed that they should be in the wardrobe, however they were not - this may have been a one off. |We used the hotel as a base for popping into York city centre and on one of the days we needed to be in the centre for an attraction booked at 9am; on this day we decided to order breakfast to the room. This was at a slightly discounted price than the restaurant and we ended up paying £19.95 a head for our breakfast which was a cafetière of coffee (to share), a small bowl of cereal, a very small pot of fruit salad, a piece of cold toast and a cold croissant each. We were very disappointed to pay nearly £40 for this and wished we had gone out for breakfast (as we did the other mornings). |Each day when we returned to the room we had additional bottles of water placed on the nightstands and had toilet roll folded neatly in the bathroom, however, the day we had ordered breakfast, the tray with cups and plates/bowls was still in the room when we returned in the evening despite water being delivered to the room. We called reception to have this removed. We would have been completely understanding that we waived housekeeping however, someone had been into the room with water and toilet roll and had not taken our breakfast tray. |Overall, we had a nice time away but would not recommend or stay at Hotel du Vin, York again.

Highly recommended.
Simple check in, very pleasant receptionist.
Dropped our bags and went out and when we returned they were in our room.

Good location, 15 minute walk to the centre, Uber operates here so cheap taxis are available via the Uber app.

The room was also nice and quiet for a city location.

There is a car park at the rear (£15/day).

The only negative is they don’t answer their phone, press one for…. press two for….. then you get another menu press one for…… we gave up!

The hotel is well located near York city centre being easily walkable. The room was quite nice but the bed not quite firm enough for us. The hotel and reception staff were all very polite, friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend to a friend.

My husband and I had dinner at Hotel Du Vin yesterday. We had previously been a year before and we thought we would come again. Both occasions were fantastic. The food is excellent both in terms of portion size and presentation without being pretentious. There is a relaxed and warm ambience. The staff were all welcoming and helpful particularly Sara who served us and was attentive, knowledgeable with a warm & kind disposition. We enjoyed chatting to her.

This is one of the nicest hotels in York and only a few minutes walk from the main walled City. The staff are extremely friendly, especially our evening bartender. |With regard to food, we only ate breakfast here, but it was excellent and again, nothing too much trouble. |I have only given 4 stars as our room, which was across the car park in the annex was quite dusty, the lamp bases and mirror for example. Also, on arrival, there was a wet flannel and used soap on the bath edge.

Booked a suite for my husbands 40th and it was beautiful. The staff had left a little note with chocolates to wish him a happy birthday which was a nice little touch. I chose the hotel initially because I wanted somewhere close to the restaurant we were eating at ( Melton's - also highly recommended!) but the location was perfect for exploring. Only a ten minute walk to the centre of York. This hotel is definitely top of my list for any future visits to York.

Lovely room, lovely stay. Staff are very helpful. Room was clean and had everything that you could want. Breakfast was lovely too. Just one niggling issue, and that is that there is a £15 a night charge to park at the hotel, this wasn't highlighted until we got here

This hotel is excellently situated and is within easy walking distance of the city centre and all the historic attractions. Adequate parking at £15 per night and comfortable clean rooms albeit ours hosted an open packet of cigarettes just under the bed which obviously tells a tale about the adequacy of the vacuuming. The reception team were welcoming and very efficient and the bar was well-stocked and a good service provided. We didn’t eat at the hotel (breakfast was pricey at >£20) so opted to dine at a small cafe opposite which was excellent and dinner in the centre of the city where there are some very nice restaurants catering for a wide range of palates and wallets. All told a good hotel experience and we will return.
