My wife and I and a friend all stayed for two nights as we had a wedding to attend in the village. Hound House is a beautiful period building with its own parking. Each of the rooms are charming and beautifully decorated. Claire is a gracious host and looked after us very well. Breakfast was delicious with fresh local bread for toast and a selection of other goodies. I would choose this bed and breakfast if you wanted something quintessentially English, as a base for exploring the surrounding Dorset countryside and perhaps even a trip to the coast.

I spent two lovely nights visiting a friend in the village and stayed here. The sitting room with its cosy wood burner was very enticing. The bedroom was clean, bright and airy. The bed was so comfortable and the cottage having such thick walls, the room was incredibly quiet so I had the best two nights of sleep. Claire was a delightful host and was willing to go to any lengths to ensure I had a good stay which I certainly did. I would definitely stay again when visiting my friend.

My friend Karen and i stayed here for 3 nights for a family wedding and were extremely happy with our choice. I am disabled and Claire went out of her way to make things easier for me to get round safely and even put a bed downstairs. Nothing was ever too much trouble for her. Hound House was beautiful and although we only used it for a base we were extremely comfortable. Having your own private dining/lounge area is lovely and one night we bought food from a supermarket and used all the lovely crockery and fridge which were at our disposal. It's great to have the use of a fridge/toaster/microwave/kettle whenever you want it should you not want to eat out every day. Perhaps a strange thing to mention but the bedding smelt divine and Hound House also had a lovely smell! I would certainly return should I be in the area again. Thank you Claire for making our stay extra special and your delicious home cooked breakfasts.

I stayed here with my friend in October 2021. The owners couldn't have been kinder or more helpful. It's virtually an apartment, rather than a B&B, with two bedrooms, a large bathroom, one's own staircase and downstairs loo/cloakroom, and a lovely sitting/breakfast room. A log burner (lit by the owners daily, so we didn't have to) kept everything cosy warm. Parking was easy in the owner's own courtyard (adjacent to their main section of the house).||||Breakfast was always 'there' when we came down - apart from not having a sink (we used the downstairs loo basin) or cooker, the 'diner' was really a mini-kitchen. There was a fridge for ourselves, and a microwave as well. We had supper there rather than eat out, cook chill using the microwave. The owners did the washing up for us! There was fresh bread every morning for a continental breakfast, though the owners would have cooked a full English had we asked.||||I would definitely recommend Hound House to anyone wanting a base near Sherborne, but in a quiet and historic village house. There is 'slight' traffic in the 'rush hour' (!) in the morning, but that is all. The apartment is beautifully furnished with family antiques.||||As I say, the owners could not have been kinder or more helpful.

I currently stayed at this charming, elegant and beautiful bed and breakfast. Claire the propiater and her lovely family could not do enough for you. Nothing was too much bother. Phily the dog is so well behaved and a pleasure to play with.||The overall accommodation is spotless featuring your own living room, eating area buffet style breakfast, although Claire would gladly make something cooked. The bedrooms and bathroom are extremely spacious as is the garden. Overall, this charming accommodation is fantastic. Looking forward to my next stayπŸ˜€πŸ˜„πŸ™‚

My sister and I had a wonderful two night stay. It could not have been more comfortable with our own sitting room to relax in, such comfy beds and breakfast which was very well presented. Claire is an excellent host. Nothing is too much trouble. Thoroughly recommend and hope to visit again before too long. Fiona Hayes stayed 14 -16 September 2020

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to West Dorset and especially our stay in Hound House.. We had our own front door leading into a private sitting/dining room for our use only. The bedroom was ensuite and had lots of lovely touches. Breakfast was also delightful and we felt thoroughly spoiled throughout. Yetminster is a village 5 miles from Sherborne and an excellent central point for visiting Dorchester, Sherborne and all the other delights of this part of the world. We'll be back!

This is our second stay at Hound House, and it really is a pleasure to spend the night at this charming village property. The bed is soooo comfy! I had a great sleep. The hosts are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The house is full of interesting furniture and collectibles and is spotlessly clean.||I highly recommend Hound House.
