One reviewer mentioned, "Passed this cafe on the way to Nairn so thought we’d give it a try on the way home. Glad we did Really nice place. We both wanted one of the specials but they only had one portion left. Plenty of alternative options on the menu, and the quality of the food was excellent. Catered for dogs, and we were allowed to take them in and sit inside. Reasonably priced and service was excellent."

Lovely food, fresh and nicely presented. Unfortunately the staff let the place down, the youngish bloke didn't really want to seat us and told us twice it would be at least a 20min wait. I think he'd lost a sick somewhere...also they don't like walk ins so I'd book if you want to eat here. Wouldn't go back, I only went as I'd been past so many times and fancied trying it. Can't believe they're still in business after reading the reviews!!

A lovely cafe that we stopped at by chance. Living close by it’s something we’ve overlooked but we had always heard good things about.
After being there today in a confirm that if you’ve heard good things about Hillhouse Cafe, they are true.
The atmosphere was lovely, really warm and welcoming, dog friendly too!
The staff saw to us right away and took us to a table, we ordered drinks is first; two coffees that came quickly.
I ordered the special which was an open BBQ bacon sandwich on sourdough with salad and slaw, it was excellent. My wife ordered a jacket with prawn mayo, again she thoroughly enjoyed it and the Portions sizes were very generous!
Great staff, great food and reasonably priced.
Absolutely would recommend (even if it’s out your way).

This is such a lovely countryside cafe. I wish they would have a branch in my city as well. The foods are large, so it would be a good idea to share if you do not overeat. Plenty of parking spaces. Staffs are incredibly kind and friendly. No complaints at all from me.

Waited for about couple of min to be seated which I thought it was long as there was a few staff on. I had fish and chips ..overall it was OK..I would say the batter is a bit of the greasy side for my liking ..I couldn't quite finish it. The young girls were friendly and helpful though.

Arrived today at 1130am between brunch and lunch menu . Young male server seated us and advised that lunch did not start til 12 . We had tea and coffee and asked for a menu 3 times to be told that a party of 30 were due in . Also that meals did not start until 12 , and he would bring a menu over and take our order . He completely ignored us placed menus on empty tables . Then gave menus to people who arrived after us . Completely ignoring us . We spent 30 minutes there , told the staff 3 times we wished to order food only to be blanked . We paid our drinks and left . We will not be back. This used to be a pleasant place to eat . Spoiled by this experience.

Househill cafe is lovely not just because of the food but also for the little connected shop, the bakery for sweet treats after you meal and the overt freshness that can be tasted from the fresh ingredients used.

Excellent spot for lunch because the food is not too heavy and allows one to head off in any direction thereafter.

This is a wonderful cafe. Super great food at good prices. The little shop is also full of local crafts. The feeling is lovely and very accommodating for family.
