Howard Lodge is situated on a quiet residential street close to restaurants and other amenities within walking distance. We stayed there after walking a section of Hadrian’s Wall and were welcomed by Tony on arrival. The room was super comfy, breakfast was plentiful and the overall atmosphere was friendly.

I stayed here on the last night of my Hadrian’s Wall walk. Excellent location just a few mins from city centre and only ten mins from the trail. I received a warm friendly welcome by the host Charlotte. My room was a double en- suite and spotlessly clean had everything I needed. Bed was very comfortable, I had the best night sleep so far on my walk. Cooked breakfast was yummy with lots of options of fruit, cereals, juice. A perfect place for weary wall walkers.

A friend and I stayed at Howard Lodge recently, on night one of our six day adventure raising money for charity. walking along Hadrian's Wall. ||Charlotte and Tony were the perfect hosts! The stay, in an ensuite twin room, was so charming and comfy - just what we needed after a very tiring hike! ||The room very clean, beds comfortable and the breakfast was very, very plentiful, and very tasty! ||The additional packed lunch was definitely necessary too! ||Would absolutely recommend a stay at Howard Lodge whether you're walking the wall or just exploring Carlisle.

Great B&B near the center of Carlisle, and near the Hadrians Wall Path. I had a great room and great breakfast. Very nice hosts, i felt really welcome.

We (4 couples) stayed here two nights while hiking Hadrian's Wall Path. The booking was done through Hillwalk Tours. Charlotte was an outstanding host-she made recommendations for dinner and made the reservation. It was a great choice. The rooms were spotless and our breakfasts were just what we needed for our walks each day.

Howard Lodge was the second place we stayed at on our Hadrian's Wall walk. We stayed after our first full day of walking and we had got soaking wet through. Howard Lodge is a classic Bed and Breakfast. Nothing fancy or special, just exactly what it says on the tin.||The room was a decent size with a comfortable bed. The shower room was quite small and showed some signs of damp but it was clean and the shower very welcome after the day walking in the rain. ||Breakfast was served from 7.30 and was fine with a choice of cereal etc and a cooked breakfast to choose the evening before. The scrambled eggs were not great but everything else was fine.||I would have no issue staying here again

Excellent B&B. We have stayed here a few times at this time of year.||This B&B is always nice and warm, very clean and comfortable. Tony and Charlotte are always very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast is a delight, well cooked and plenty of choice.
