I'm a little thrown by all the 5 star reviews. This place is fine, it feels more like a 1 or 2 star place. Peeling wallpaper, extremely dated decor and furniture and the shower was so weak it couldn't rinse my hair properly, the fridge in the room wasn't plugged in, and one socket by the bed didn't work at all. The lighting generally was very poor. It's a nice quiet location though, so that's a positive.

Just return from an amazing family wedding at Howfield Manor. The staff were some of the most friendly and accommodating staff I think have ever encountered. Nothing was too much trouble and they had smiles on their faces constantly ! ||The rooms are fine - mattresses are superb and everything you need in the room. ||The wedding food was amazing and beautifully cooked. ||The breakfast was also superb. The quality of the bacon and sausages was excellent - not out of a pack. ||Overall I could not fault this hotel - it’s very cosy and intimate and the place has a really nice homely feel to it. ||Without question I am going to return here again. ||Also the manager ( really lovely guy !! ) - super friendly and helpful ||Overall 10/10

My experience of howfield manor was just plain awful. I wanted to celebrate valentines and thought this place to be fantastic how wrong I was. I had booked a room and had also previously emailed to ask if I could order from main menu and if they did room service, I had confirmation that I could do both. Upon arrival I was told I couldn't order from main menu or have room service until 8pm. A bit late but we said we would look at menu and return. We went to our room and this was a small double there was a small desk so I asked did they bring a table we could eat at. I was told No. The manager asked what the issue was and we told him. He replied look at the menu decide what you want and I will ask if the chef can cook these for you. We went down at 5.40 to see if the chef would cook our choices or if we would have to eat out. We were told sit sit I tried to ask if the chef was prepared to cook our choices and the manager said yes he would sit her. Again I tried to say I'm not dressed or changed he said not to worry sit here. Here turned out to not even be in the restaurant. We were placed where the breakfast was set up was our romantic meal turned into a rushed affair that saw us back in our room by 7. The following morning at breakfast the food was lovely however when we went to get a pastry to eat with our coffee there was only one left, I asked the waiter for more and was told there may be a wait however he then informed us there would be no more pastries this was at 9 am. We left!!! We spent £200 to experience unyielding staff, a very hot room (couldn't open window as smoking area below) and inadequate breakfast a poor show by all and won't be returning.

The hotel is a little gem! The staff are super friendly, very professional and very attentive. The rooms are warm, comfortable and very clean. We ate dinner at the restaurant which was delicious as was the breakfast. Would definitely recommend and will certainly be returning. Thank you for a lovely stay🙂

We have stayed here before and had an amazing time but this time we were not so impressed. ||Room was plenty big enough and we liked the decor but the mattress was way too soft and with no support on the sides, it was like the cheapest sort you would never buy. Bathroom, zero water pressure to have a shower, it was that bad that when you took it off the wall and held it up the water just trickled down your arm. ||Food wise, the food in the evening was very good, no complaints there. The breakfast was mediocre at best and the continental side just went and they don’t seem to replace. If you’re early then ok but after 9am and you will struggle. ||Bar wise, soft drinks are out of a bottle so are pretty much flat, the beer comes out looking like Mr Whippy and when we were there they couldn’t figure out how to make the simplest of drinks, that was when someone was behind the bar. ||Shame really as we all said this hotel could be and should be knockout amazing but it wasn’t. Not sure if it has changed hands but there wasn’t the service that was there before. Probably won’t stay again.

The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. The room was spacious. The hot water works well. The bed was comfortable. Parking was free. Breakfast was included in our stay and it was worth the early morning.

The issues were that the bathroom tap dribbled out which made washing hands difficult but not impossible. The room did get a bit cold at night so we used the space heater provided which worked well, the problem was that it had a missing wheel which made it difficult moving it around.

Overall I would recommend staying at Howfield Manor, we booked via booking.com and the value for money was very good. If I was to visit again I would hope that the issues mentioned above would have been resolved.

I was very excited about the trip given it was a 4 star Manor Hotel. I was happy to pay that little bit extra. First impressions on arrival was good however it was after 8 o'clock at night when we checked in. We were exhausted and hungry after the 8hr journey. We went straight out for something to eat and bed that first night. I was kept awake for hours listening to the person in the next door snoring 😴 he may have been in the same room as the walls were paper thin. To then being woken up early by noise from the kitchen below. We got ready for breakfast only to notice the filthy bathroom full of thick black pubic hair and soap scum. We mentioned this to the front desk and he said he would get housekeeping to clean it. We waited but nobody came. We ended up going out without a wash (not that there was anything to wash with. But we could have some shampoo ect if we wanted to buy it from them) and mentioned it again as we left. We did not want anyone in the room when we weren't there and were told it would be cleaned on our return. ||On our return we was told all the housekeeping had gone home. We showed the evening member of staff on reception what the problem was and he immediately reallocated us to another room. It was pretty much the same however as I went to charge up my phone I noticed the plug socket face was coming away from the wall. The bedside lamp was fusing and the wires on the heating radiator in the bathroom was bare 😳. I would not give this place more than 2 stars. Smell bathroom towel, uncomfortable bed, cheap breakfast, broken tiles the list could go on. And top it all off was awakened on the second morning by the sound of someone urinating, absolutely disgusting 🫣 I'm fed up of false advertising and establiments taking my hard earned money of me.

Just returned from the most amazing wedding at Howfield Manor. The venue is lovely and the staff were amazing, so helpful and friendly. Without question, we will come back to this hotel 10/10
