Ibis Carlisle City Centre – Honest Review

We stayed at the ibis Carlisle during our city break, and it turned out to be a great base for exploring the area!

Fantastic location – Right in the heart of Carlisle, just a short walk from the train station, cathedral, castle and city centre shops. Free parking was a huge bonus! 🚗🏰

Friendly staff – The team were genuinely welcoming and helpful from check-in to check-out. Always smiling and ready to assist! 😊

Clean and comfy rooms – Our room was tidy, the bed was comfortable, and we had everything we needed for a short stay. Nothing fancy, but it did the job. 🛏️✨

Tasty breakfast – Hot and cold buffet with good variety. A great way to start the day! 🍳☕

I'll start with the good...staff were lovely, room was very clean and there was plenty of parking. The room had best of basic facilities and for a stop over there was nothing wrong. OK....the not so good! Many basic items on menu were not available so limited choices available, it's a city centre location so expect outside noise ( ear plugs are provided though) and you can hear everything from the rooms above, below and to each side. Breakfast was sparse and not readily restocked but I imagine hearty enough if you get there early enough. Its not a bad place to stay and for a 2* hotel it meets the brief.....just dont expect too much.

This hotel is well positioned and efficiently run. There is free car parking. Staff were friendly. It is a budget hotel and I stayed there because they allow dogs. The room was tiny with a ‘bathroom’ like you’d find on a train. The beds were narrow and very close together. My bed was extraordinarily hard and reminded me of sleeping on fracture boards. My wife said hers was ok so I must have been unlucky. I had very little sleep and was sore the next day. If you have very little luggage it’s ok for one night but I won’t be hurrying back.

Well-located hotel with plenty of bars and restaurants close by for our recent 2-night stay, also easy walk to Carlisle tourist attractions. The room was clean and tidy and despite overlooking Botchergate with its bars etc, noise was not a problem. The free parking was easy and simple to access, all staff were friendly and welcoming, in particular the breakfast ladies. In relation to the breakfast, a good selection to choose from, well stocked and tasty.

Less than 5 minutes from train station. 3pm check in, the charge £2 per bag to hold them if you arrive early and want to be bag free.
Staff friendly. Foyer was nice, plenty seating, bar (open 24/7) and pool table.
We booked breakfast £12 p/p, was very nice with plenty of options, plenty of other places to eat locally if you want.
Room was basic but comfortable. We had a hair dryer, fan and kettle in room but no iron or board (went a got this from reception), no safe, fridge or tv remote in room.
Bathroom is a cubicle, no lock on door, be sure you are comfortable with you partner.
Bed was comfy, extra pillows in cupboard.

Clean sheets, towels, comfortable bed. Good value. Didn't eat or drink in hotel so can't comment there, but was comfortable and cool in room and slept well.

The information from the staff towards looking for a missing person first from his fiancé then then police was the most shocking. The staff are incredibly rude and unresponsive. This hotel needs shut down. The rooms stink of BO and toilets. The foyer stinks of weed, I will be contacting the hotel company ASAP.

Easy check in and out.
Well located for exploring Carlisle City centre and Bars/restaurants.
Rooms clean and tidy.
Can be noisy at night as the clubs are close by, however, not the fault of Ibis.
