Booked for a business stopover on my way home to break up a long drive.|Large, comfortable, clean and well-furnished room. Spotlessly clean with modern decor. Bed is clean and comfy with a large mattress (rather than 2 singles put together). Nice, clean bathroom with walk-in shower. Good facilities and a decent-sized TV. |Friendly reception staff and a very good price compared to competitors.|Reading some of the negative reviews, I didn’t expect much, but was very pleasantly surprised.|I can really recommend this place, and will stay again.

We have stayed in the ibis in Dodworth in several occasions now and we will always continue to. The reception team are super helpful, polite and professional and make us welcome.

The rooms are always clean and comfortable and the facilities suit our needs very well. Although we generally stay without breakfast I have never heard anything negative about the food.

It is a really lovely hotel to stay at! See you all on the 3rd of November!

The room was very basic but seemed clean. It was supposed to be a twin room but the two beds were pushed tight together, which felt like a double bed. This left a lot of space between the bed and the window. There was no furniture, except for a small chair and tiny stool, so this was wasted space. The room could have been arranged better. I could not use the desk because the tv and coffee maker were there.||The staff were friendly, helpful, and nice. I had to ask for a hairdryer, and the staff were very quick to bring one.||I stayed two nights. When I returned to the room after my first night there, I noticed the room wasn’t swept or cleaned, only the bed was made.||Breakfast was okay but not exceptional. The croissants were all dark brown on both days, quite over-baked. ||Although there was a 24 menu advertised, when we arrived back at the hotel around 10 pm and tried to order from the bar, we were told that there was no food available. This was very disappointing and no explanation was given.

Had an amazing stay at Barnsley. We booked 2 family rooms, the staff kindly arranged them to be next to each other. We were welcomed by a lovely receptionist, took time to explain everything, and was very helpful. Thank you for checking us in.
Breakfast was great, nice and calm. Thank you once again. Rooms were nice and clean. Tea and coffee tray in both rooms. The children loved it. We drove down from London. Would visit again, if needed.

Another good stay ai Ibis Barnsley, great to have extra pillows available in the room without having to ask for them.
The towels looked like they have been renewed and the mattress felt more comfortable than on previous stays.

The room was reasonably clean, but tired looking. The liquid soap was nice smelling, and there was shampoo, but no conditioner. The bed was comfortable and extra pillows available but the duvet too lightweight for me. In the morning the sheet had come away from the bed revealing brown staining on the mattress topper. There was a loud humming noise all night as if from a big Aircon unit or something. There was no info in the room about the breakfast or serving times etc. disappointed to find no room service. No water for the kettle and only tea or instant coffee no real coffee available anyway. The blackout curtains were effective. The key card didn't work very well to open the door. There was no receptionist in the morning when we left so couldn't inform of these things, and didn't know where to put the key card so had to just leave on the reception desk.

Stayed during the current riot issues so the staff were super vigilant and entry to the hotel was awkward at first. Having said this the staff once we were in were super friendly and extremely helpful. Ate at the Toby carvery next door but restaurant and bar area was clean and tidy and enjoyed a couple of pints. Good value for money

As far as comfort is concerned, bed was too hard and pillows were too firm to be called comfortable. There was no wardrobe and ironing facilities are restricted to a room on different floor. One has to take all the clothes down to iron and come back upstairs which was very inconvenient. There was no fridge in the room.

Food choices on the menu for dinner were not available and whichever was available were not cooked and I had to ask for another one.

Overall it was a very substandard stay which is heavily overpriced.
