Reasonable value. Clean rooms, large bathrooms. But: bed was **** hard and breakfast was not offered until 9am. Who waits to 9am to eat breakfast?! And no other options nearby. The lunch and dinner menus were quite limited, but the food was good. Some great walking trails nearby.

Pictures are deceptive. |For a start, the BoatHouse is by the Loch but the accommodation is up the hill and another entrance.|There is inadequate parking at the accommodation, don't know what parking is like at The BoatHouse, believe the two are connected by a path but not good if you have limited mobility. You had to get back early to ensure a place to park. |Our family room was just over 11ft wide and approximately 16ft long, into this space was fitted a double, a set of bunk beds, a shower room, a chair and table holding the kettle.|Room was clean.|As the three phone calls made when we arrived where not answered didn't bother contacting owners.|We were there four nights and rooms were not touched. Had to ask for a bag for rubbish to be put in room.|I am used to YHA accommodation so think this is very fair base to start any review from. Granddaughter hated it, she's usually pleased.

We entered our room in the main hostel building (room 1) after negotiating our way through the many doors and through the communal lounge area, to find stains on the wall including brown splats with dried drips by the bunk bed both by the top bunk and by the bottom bunk. We had no idea what this was . Potentially tea? Coffee? Something else?! Who knows but it was unpleasant. Stains generally all along the left hand wall as you walk into the room. Not the best thing to see as your first impression of the room you will be staying in for one night. Next we went to the en suite to find a long dark hair on the folded up towel and a dark short and curly hair in the sink. Not good. Plugged my phone charger in at the socket where the bedside lamp was to the left of the bed only to have my hand go through cobwebs! About to make a hot drink to find a dried white stain on the coffee table. Who knows what this was but clearly only a perfunctory clean had been administered by housekeeping. We are not expecting people to repaint walls after someone has stayed in the room but to leave very obvious brown stains all over the walls and not even try to wipe them off and not to clean the coffee table with an obvious white dried stain, seems incredibly lazy. It meant I was dubious about how clean the bedding/beds/mattress was too. However the bedding smelt fresh and to be honest we were too tired to explore further if I were to dive deeper than the surface level of cleanliness. I was worried what I might find! The vending machine in the entranceway wasn’t working. No matter how many times we tried, all options came up as temporarily unavailable or out of order despite it being fully stocked. This only made for a very disappointed 7-year-old. Completely pointless to have this addition in a communal area when it clearly doesn’t work and isn’t being regularly maintained. All in all, from some of the photographs we knew what to expect in terms of basic accommodation which looked dated, and that was okay with us. We were not expecting 5 star accommodation, interestingly the family room photos the website chooses to feature are much more modern looking, clean, cabin-esque rooms which definitely wasn’t ours, however, what we do expect is a basic level of cleanliness and unfortunately this is where Insh Hall failed massively. I felt I needed to have a shower after staying here and did so in our next place of accommodation. I wouldn’t describe this place as being budget friendly either as it was over £100 per night which is more than some of the more gorgeous places we have stayed that were immaculate and had more to offer in terms of views. Having checked the other reviews now, I can see that there are places nearby that are marginally more expensive and infinitely better. We will definitely not be returning.

We only had the one star room, but the lodges look really cool. Despite the fact they room was basic, the whole experience was top class. Lovely location, tasty food at the restaurant, even at the breakfast, the location is amazing. You can get a stunning view of the lake and the surrounding mountains and they have plenty activities for the water lovers. I guess I'll go back durint the winter and book a lodge with hot tub. Seeing the sunset over that view of the lake and the mountains while you are in a hot tub must be an amazing experience.

Beds were awful, very creaky and felt the springs. Wouldn’t recommend staying in the hall. Needs a good lick of paint too. Updating the place it would be a lovely place to stay.

Amazing trip to Loch Insh for new year. Staying in the craggenmore chalet which was ideal for what we wanted. Clean comfortable with a stunning view over the Loch. Staff couldn’t have been nicer. Great activities and food. Hogmanay party was brilliant. Special mention to Alistair (think that was his name) he taught my daughter archery and was so friendly and helpful.

Insh Hall was a great cheaper alternative to a chalet for our family of 4. The room is quite small but doable for 3 nights and has a private bathroom. The location is amazing, on the loch with fantastic kids facilities. Some food availability at the hall would be great with some basic cooking facilities.

Nice place, good.location, great facilities. Bedrooms were a little cramped and only single beds in our family room for 5. Breakfast is great, staff are really helpful, ski hire is available and had equipment when everywhere else was out of stock. Dry ski slope is free to use in the evenings if you are staying over 2 nights and in the summer I think you get use of the canoes/kayaks too.
