A Pleasant Surprise for a Spontaneous Dinner
My friend and I decided to try Katch on a whim last night, no reservation, just hoping for the best. I'm so glad we did. Despite showing up unannounced, the staff were incredibly welcoming.
What struck me immediately was how genuinely friendly and attentive the service was. Our server checked in just enough without being intrusive, and the food arrived quickly.
The menu offers great value for money, you can enjoy a proper meal and drinks without breaking the bank, which is refreshing these days. The food was well-prepared, flavourful, and clearly made with care. Everything arrived hot and perfectly cooked. It's the kind of place that feels unpretentious and welcoming, perfect for both planned dinners and spontaneous meet ups like ours.
Katch delivers exactly what it promises: good food, fair prices, and a comfortable environment with service that genuinely cares about your experience. We'll definitely be back, probably with a reservation next time.

My partner visited today for Fish & Chips to take away. Got to say the Fish was very good.
On entering the shop and promptly ordering she was asked to pay with cash. Unfortunately she only had card on her. The staff member wasn't happy and told her it would cost them £2.80 to do card payment.
Having run my own business for 20 years it never cost me anything like that amount and we sold many items under£5. If that's what they are paying they seriously need to find a new provider. The next customer entered and it was the same scenario. This was Friday Teatime and only 3 customers. Perhaps many customers have had the same experience and like us won't be rushing back when there are other options available.
To finish, while my partner was waiting for her order she couldn't help hearing the 3 staff talking using foul language.

The good the bad and the ugly.
We stayed for 2 nights at the hotel. Clean decent sized room but VERY noisy, from road noise to upstairs squeaky floorboards. Music went on at volume u til 12.30 on the Friday night. Saturday market started setting up right outside very early. We couldn't have windows open due to the noise, there was no fan in the room so it was a bit box.
We spent over £300 at this place, the one meal we had there was awful. The gammon was so overcooked, I told the man who waited on us and it felt like he didn't believe me. He took the plate to the chef and was told that just how it's cooked. It was like a 99p pack of 2 gaming slices. Totally unacceptable with the customer service to go with it. The male member of staff needs additional training. We ended up leaving at 6.45am due to the noise and heat.
A real shame as the restaurant had a good feeling to it with a couple of comfy sofas but with the noise and the poor customer service we will not be returning it recommending.

Right in the middle of to town centre
15 of us had a meal. We pre ordered the food.
Service was fantastic. The staff was always there if you needed anything.
Very attentive. Nothing was too much trouble.
The food was hot and delicious.

Came here with my dad, and got onion rings, two 'small' cod and chips and 2 drinks AND scraps all for 18 pounds. This is what the small portion is like, with a massive golden crispy and delicious fish, with very nice chips too. If you go anywhere like Redcar or Saltburn and order a small, you will get smaller fish and chips than this and it be more money! It was very delicious, only 6.50 for these cod and chips and I will definitely be returning!

This is a review just on the takeaway fish and chips part of Katch.
Will not be returning again as 3 times now the girls behind the counter have been rude. The last time was particularly bad when she literally rolled her eyes at me because my phone wouldn't connect to the card reader the first time.
Also about a hundred dead insects on the windowsill..gross!

Lovely room, comfy and clean. Staff were delightful, made sure everything was okay. Easy Check In and Check Out system. Ear plugs are provided incase there is noise on weekend or for the noise of the busy road.|There is noise from the road but if that bothers you then I’d suggest not booking a hotel on a main road (we were not bothered by the noise).|Shower was good, shower gel provided.|We also popped into the bar for a couple of cocktails which were wonderful.|Would recommend!
