I love this Hotel. It is opposite to the Bus Station, Short Walking distance from the Train Station and also the Naval Dock Yard. Close to Gunwharf Quay and the Spinnaker Tower. It is right in the centre of all the decent pubs! It has free parking (If you get there early enough) It is a very old traditional building with many period features which has been very well maintained. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are in very good order with most enjoying air conditioning and are also very well serviced by very friendly staff. The food is also very good - Breakfasts cater for all sorts of tastes. I had a Sunday Roast here which was one of the best that I have ever enjoyed. I do not agree with a previous review that the hotel "Is Falling Apart" - Obviously as a period property, there are things that the hotel are unable to change very easily. The Keppels Head is definitely "Not Falling Apart" I have stayed here 5 times now and have already booked my next stay.

Location, location, location, couldn’t get more central, consequently some noise from train and coach stations but not that bad.|Outlook from our window was great…. Spinnaker tower and HMS Warrior |Slightly dated in places, just call it character it is an old building after all.|Shower was okay and the air conditioning was brilliant as it was very hot outside, room could have been cleaned better but not really an issue.|Breakfast and an evening meal were very nice , staff helpful and friendly |Would be happy to stay again 😀

Pros:|The location was excellent, right near the harbour. The staff were friendly and polite. The room wasn't completely spotless but still in good condition. The bathroom was excellent and had lots of space. The room I stayed in was large, but the beds and pillows were too hard for my liking. The cooked breakfast was made on demand and was good.||Cons:|Although there was a lift, there were still steps in the building when moving between some corridors. People with a disability should enquire before booking.

A real magic find ! A couple of hundred yards from the gates of the “Victory” and “Nary rose” museums - a good English pub 50 yards away and a top class brand new shopping centre with pubs restaurants and shops overlooking the water 200 yards the other way. The hotel was clean friendly lovely comfortable rooms with all facilities including lovely shower. Breakfast was really well presented and wholesome. Only “ criticism” and not their fault was a car park at the rear that could get a bit noisy in the evening. Apart from that will highly recommend

This hotel is great value for money! Good location right near Portsmouth Harbour train station and a short walk to Gunwharf Quay. Free parking is useful. Beds were comfy. Shower wasn't very powerful, so that could be improved. 24-hour bar which served us well. Debu, Hu and Liam were wonderful and looked after us. There were some games and we enjoyed playing jenga over a few beers (and shots!). |Breakfast room was decorated beautifully. ||Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

Great price for a location that is walking distance to all the main attractions of old town Portsmouth, pubs, and shopping. Rooms have basic amenities but could be cleaner. The streets behind the hotel are noisy at night. Free parking for guest, but limited availability (first come, first serve).

Honestly, the best hotel experience I have had in ages. We had a request to make my son's birthday with a card and sweets. Of course we paid extra. The hotel staff did this and did a happy birthday song when we ate at the restaurant. The food was great and breakfast was brilliant. We have already booked our next stay.

We booked this hotel as we had to be in a hotel near to the railway station as we had to catch an early train. The Keppel's Head was in a perfect location. The hotel is not disable friendly really it may have a small stair lift in the front but you have to go up steps to the lift. We had room 36 and thats where our problem started. The bed was that bad you eigher rolled into the middle or rolled out which I did once which was not funny for someone who is disabled. You could not sleep in it just a doze. The breakfast was good but not much choice it was either a full English or a limited in contents Continental. I would never stay there again and recommed that you don't. Also the staff were not really friendly just doing their job.
