I was here for hours and was greeted very pleasantly by a member of staff who found me some children's trails for future visits and an audio guide. I came mainly for the paintings. One room contains the art catalogue online, a game for children and information about the museum. The wooden floors, old benches and the glimpse from room to room create a calm atmosphere. The McTaggart room was superb. I particularly liked The Emigrants. What a shame the 3 in the series are split up. Loved The Bullring by Arthur Melville. The Colourists room was good too though I had been hoping to see more than one each of Hunter and Cadell. The development of Peploe's work was clear however. I was less interested overall by the portraits excepting the Vettriano self portrait and audio clip. Good to have the Nairn father and son portraits on display and the John Bellany's Old Man and the Sea. Interesting commentary on the interior of Kellie Castle. Underwhelmed overall, by the Fife room.

Great place, always stimulating and a joy to visit. Cafe, shop, museum and art gallery plus a library - something for everyone. Lots of great exhibitions, currently on until later in the year is the Jack Vettriano exhibition.

Nice place to visit. Some good exhibitions. Art display when we went yesterday really varied and interesting. Good displays of exhibits from the area, would have liked to have seen more of an exhibition on the linoleum industry which the area was very famed for. Nice atmosphere. Did use the cafe for a cup of tea only, sorry but it was tasteless and just so very weak. If a large pot of tea each is on offer when you ask for a cup of tea then put more than 1 teabag in! Failing that give a smaller pot with one teabag. I love my cuppa, this was tasteless and we left most of it.
