We had the opportunity to stay at our friends lodge this weekend, we had a fabulous weekend with amazing weather!! ||Just wanted to take the time to give the team at Wainwrights a very well deserved mention. The lady on the BBQ was friendly and nothing too much trouble and the bar staff went above and beyond too. After such a pleasant day on Saturday, We decided to return Sunday for a roast dinner before heading for the M6 and it was one of the tastiest dinners we have ever had! ||Thank you for a fabulous weekend, we hope to be back soon!

Absolutely loved our stay here. We had booked for 3 nights and extended it as it was so nice. We had a lovely welcome and very easy check in. The lodge was lovely very clean (Levens 15) great views with huge hot tub. It had a washing machine, dishwasher and every utensil you'd ever need. The Wainwright bar/restaurant on site was lovely and the food very nice. It was ideal having dressing gowns and towels included. The staff were all lovely and helpful, would definitely recommend and return.

This site is remarkable. I used to have a caravan here a few years ago with former owners and it was always very peaceful and jolly. During a recent visit, the redevelopment of the area is immense with much more modern, homely-like lodges which include a stunning view of the surrounding landscape, as well as larger, staggering holiday homes, all plenty for sale here. Their playpark has undergone excellent regeneration as well as the maintenance of the same warm, friendly and idyllic feel this site has always had. Lots of happy dog walkers here and cozy zen-like water features dotted around the site. It now features a nice looking restaurant/bar which was previously missing, I think the owners have done a great job on this park and will continue to run it to a good degree of standard in the near future. Well done!

We had the roast pork on Easter Sunday and it was amazing! The best roast we’ve had a Lakesway! The bar staff were doing amazing and we really loved our meal! Thank you so much to the great bar staff, you made our meal perfect ! X

So we stayed Monday-Friday in an Escape 4 dog friendly lodge (number 27), which we booked through Ho-Seasons website. We first checked in using the app a couple of days prior, which was easy and quick. We collected our keys and when we arrived at our lodge is was 10/10 clean/tidy, which during Covid-19 is superb. When upon reading the note left by the team, it explained how everything had been ‘fogged’ which made us feel at ease straight away. They left a little starter pack including tea, coffee, sugar, milk, dishwasher tablet and towel etc And also a dog bed and chew. ||The hot tub is one of the best I’ve used (I’ve stayed in many lodge cabins), and it’s the most private hot tub area I’ve ever experienced! It’s all closed off and bordered so no one can see you, which I thinks great! ||The lodge it self inside, spacious for the 2 of us including a dog, I cannot fault anything other than the fridge door you had to slam it shut because it wouldn’t shut properly, (but that’s something we just learnt to deal with).... the kitchen is fully equipped with all the utensils you’ll need for you stay. ||The bar and restaurant is very modern, and again due to covid you had to pay/order food and drink online through the app. It doesn’t serve food on a Tuesday / Wednesday which is a shame and only open for drinks but again Covid restrictions. Prices are reasonable and food is gorgeous!! We wish we used the option of the take out on the Monday night now the food was that nice. ||Location is beautiful, right in the countryside. Yes the road leading up to it is very narrow and no lighting if traveling during the night up and down, but you’ve just got to be careful and drive safely. ||My only criticism is that I’ve read on their website they’re making the lodge park a holiday home only location and no more rentals!! There’s around 85% of holiday homes I’d say, and the parks very quite when we stayed which we didn’t mind and the residents we did see seemed lovely! ||Also, there’s no shop on site so make sure you’ve got plenty of what you need unless you drive into Kendal.

Arrived today with my Partner, Son and Dog as we are due to get married at Gretna Green tomorrow. Allowed into the lodge before 1pm which was a bonus but we had pre asked on the phone on booking. Lodge is average for the price. It smelt of "wet dog" when we walked in and the twin room especially smelt. We were supprised that we were allocated this one as it doesn't state as dog friendly on the map. I call it a lodge bth its a caravan with clading on it. No bath. Nice touch of leaving our dog a toy and a dog bed (although wouldn't use as is covered in bits, our dog is non shedding and an Asistant dog) Hot tub is best feature of the stay, lovely and hot. Bit disapointing that the Stay is for 3 of us but we only get 2 dresslng gowns and 2 pairs of slippers 🤔 Onto the onsite restaurant... We had reserved a table for 5 of us for tomorrow evening for our Wedding meal and celebrations but we have now cancelled that and have to now find somewhere else to hold it after tonights experience 🙄 We decided to eat here to experience what food we would be experiencing with our Wedding Guests tomorrow....Glad we did! On walking into the place OMG there was an overwhelming smell of fish!!! The whole place stank! There were kids running everywhere between our feet and the people in the bar area were more than a little "Merry" ... We opted to sit in the quiter area next to the toilets. We watched a 2 year old and a 4 year old attempt to enter the female toilets whilst their Parents were completely unaware of where they were...Followed by the Mother of the 2 year old come to see them an say to the 4 year old who she clearly did not know "please watch him he is only 2".... Hello? As they disappeared into the mens toilets 🙈. On to the food... We had the prawn starter for 3. Plentiful. Small prawns you would get from supermarket and which were very soggy. Garlic sauce and the thin garlic bread were tasty. Prawns were very pale and just hope they were properly cooked. My Partner had the Fish and chips. The fish was very smelly and wonder now if that is why the place stank tonight! The skin was slimmy and not crispy at all. Certainly not what you would call a "battered" fish. Myself and my Son had the lasagne. Very small portion of lasagne as shown next to phone on photo. The mince meat in it was sparce and question what sort of meat it was as was pale in colour More red than brown. The lasagne pasta layers were not cooked enough and I ate very little of mine, my Son ate more as he was hungry but he still left most of it and said he didn't like it at all. The salad had come straight out of a bag from a supermarket!! No taste at all and poorly presented thrown into a shell. Chef that served it all lacked personality. We decided to leave and my Partner informed them of how we felt. They didn't charge for the 2 lasagne's and did not hesitate to ackowledge our complaint. Fare enough. Still very very disapointing that we will not be holding our Wedding meal there tomorrow night. We will not eat here again and will not be staying on here again. Very over priced for food and no choice but to eat here unless you want to drive to Kendal which would not recommend after dark along the 1 mile lane that leads to this site which is only 1 car wide with 5ft drops either side. Have stayed in much nicer "lodges" (this is not a lodge...it is a Caravan) for alot less. The site is scruffy in places as looks like Owners leave lots of junk around their decking and next to their Caravans. Very very disapointed seeing as this is our Wedding stay 😥

The park cannot cope with the amount of people. Constant power cuts, water pressure issues as the park infrastructure cannot cope to the point where the showers don’t work. No WiFi in lodges and In most cases not available in Wainwright’s bar, again it depends on the number of people who are using it. (So I was told) Lack of signs and lighting around the park. Dogs being allowed to run off the lead. No restrictions in the play area so the noise can go on until late into the evening. The bar prices are very expensive and food is average. On the positive side the bar staff are so lovely and friendly and cant do enough for you! Potential buyers and renters beware there is a long way to go before this park is up to the standards of the money it commands.

After having, yet again, another beautiful meal, it is only fair to make the effort to comment . The staff are very attentive and pleasant . My aunt and uncle joined myself and mum. They travel over for a good Sunday dinner as other places don’t come upto scratch as your roast dinners. So Thankyou to the staff and to the chef , who you don’t get to see to praise x
