We arrived before the normal check-in time so, as expected, our room was not ready. However, Sara kindly upgraded us to a room that was ready so we were able to check-in straight away which was very much appreciated. Sara had handled our booking and came across as a lovely person. We found all the staff at The Swan to be friendly and helpful. Our room (number 7) was a nice size, with good facilities. We had asked for a walk-in shower but there was also a free-standing bath. The bathroom was a good size. The bed was huge and comfortable. The Swan does not currently do breakfast (it's room only) but there are plenty of places nearby. We would definitely stay here again.

Only had a meal with 10 of us. But great service. Food was good. Prices were reasonable. Parking was on street. But we all got a parking space. (For 5 cars) Will use again.

Stayed for one night. Lovely place, very historic. Comfortable room and lovely setting. Pub is nice and beer garden is huge. Didn't eat but the food smelt lovely.
No breakfast served at the moment though.

Excellent pub grub, really friendly and helpful staff in comfortable clean surroundings. We popped in for lunch while on a hike with our friends and their dog. We were made to feel very welcome and the dog was even given biscuits and a bowl of water. Tasty food and very reasonable prices. Thanks ?

I'm writing to express my experience at the appalling service we received at the pub recently. The manager, who was more interested in her phone than attending to customers, initially told us we could order food. However, when we tried to place our order, she informed us that the kitchen wouldn't be taking orders for another hour, despite only taking one order of 2 meals. To our astonishment, just 20 minutes later, we witnessed her allowing another customer to place an order. This inconsistent and indifferent treatment is disgraceful and unacceptable. With a young child and family visiting from elsewhere in the country, I’d avoid unless you want disappointment!

Awful experience. Why all the good reviews?

Walked in from a deserted Long Melford on a dull Wednesday evening to find dozens of empty tables

"Table for two? I cheerfully asked

"Have you booked"?

"Er no, you look three quarters empty.."

No way apparently, not even if we promise to go for a walk and come back in an hour's time.

We needed to have applied for a reservation in writing, for a quiet midweek early evening well in advance

Staff are clearly not interested in taking large sums of money off potential customers

We must have missed the "sod off" sign on the door

We went across the road where a rival pub was happy to have us.

Staff are always friendly and efficient ( especially the lovely Welsh girl). Good food and great service. Would recommend
