We (4 couples) booked the whole house self-catering and found it to be the perfect retreat in a quiet, beautiful location. The kitchen is very large with two Agas, and cooking in it was made all the more pleasant by the view of the countryside beyond the stream that runs across the foot of the garden. Very clean, characterful house, extremely comfortable beds, a charming dining room with a table large enough to sit 20, warmed by the open fireplace, and a cosy sitting room with a well-stocked bookshelf and woodburning stove. This was a memorable three days away from the children and we'll definitely be booking again.

We rented Lower Buckton for 3 nights for my parents Golden Wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful few days, Carolyn was really helpful and easy to deal with. We had lovely sunny weather and Henry kindly flooded the bottom of the garden so our boys could go swimming. We played croquet on the lawn and enjoyed the trampoline. The house is comfortable and quirky, and the kitchen equipped with all the equipment you might ever need. Highly recommend.

We recently spent three nights at Lower Buckton. What a wonderful find! It had everything, old world charm, a beautiful garden with mill stream at the bottom, very comfortable bed and linens, and great hosts, Carolyn and Henry who were charming. Breakfast was wonderful with most of the produce coming from their own land, jams,mushrooms, Henry's tomatoes, delicious scrambled eggs, sausages, apple juice, plums. a wonderful selection of cereals including Carolyn's summer porridge with fresh raspberries. When next in the area we would definitely stay again

It's such an amazing place! Henry and Carolyn are amazing hosts. Highly recommended to all of my friends and family . They've got so much to offer. Full house with addition of shepherd's hut. Definitely the best place to go to escape your worries. The best food you can ever imagine all local and Carolyn's skills will have you in food heaven. Thank you for an amazing stay xx

We have just returned from a 3 day stay with Carolyn and Henry who are the perfect hosts. We were made to feel at home on arrival, with tea and excellent cake in the sitting room which is full of interesting family portraits and lovely furniture. The rest of the house continued the theme of being full of interest.|Carolyn's breakfast was first class, everything produced to order and beautifully cooked.

Here you become a personal guest in a comfortable country house from another age, but with modern conveniences.||We were warmly welcomed with leaf tea and delicious cake. This despite Carolyn’s having just returned from leading six equestrian guests on a 15-mile tour taking in two countries (Welsh Radnorshire 2 miles away) and three counties (Shropshire 1 mile).||Everywhere is period stuff - not clutter, but a feast for curious minds. Our Yellow Room was spacious, clean and comfortable.||The peace is striking. On an hour-long pre-breakfast dog-walk, I heard a thousand birds, and not one engine.||Everything edible that can be made at home is home-made, and much of what can’t is locally sourced. We came down to find Lower Buckton apple juice on the enormous shared dining table, and a sideboard laden with fresh fruit, muesli, granola, yogurt, summer porridge (a scrumptious first for us), and a choice of breads next to the toaster. Faced with this feast, we cancelled the "just-in-case" cooked breakfast; not that we doubted its deliciousness, but in the interests of our waistlines. Our fellow-guests drifted in at intervals, and the room filled with chatter, whilst more good food quietly appeared, and then disappeared.||Heaven!

Ideal for a weekend away (there were 8 of us), Lower Buckhorn a little remote, but great if you just want to walk and relax as we did. Warm welcome from our hosts who stressed we had the run of the house for whatever we wanted to do. Great house centered on the big kitchen with its aga cooker keeping everything warm. Comfortable bedrooms, massive dining room which accommodated us all easily and cozy sitting room with a log burner to finish everything off.
