Peaceful and lovely location. Staff are their biggest asset fantastic team. Rooms grounds and swimming pool all clean and tidy. More of a traditional Hotel in fitting with the building not futuristic and gadgety. Dog friendly and decent grounds and next to golf course so nice views.

If you want a wedding venue where the staff really want to give|You your dream day, book this hotel! Faultless, and it started from the attentiveness of the original viewing, without any hard sell, to the package deal which is phenomenal, to the meal tasting and overnight stay when we were treated so specially. The chef and restaurant staff create something amazing that our guests are talking about, having loved the food so much. The planning meetings were spot on and gave such reassurance it would all go smoothly. If there are any hiccups you can trust the staff will resolve it to make your day so memorable. If you want a hotel filled with experienced staff who all want to do well by you, then this is the hotel. Thank you to Andrew for managing it like a boss, to clair for her attentiveness and reassurance, to Chloe for a personal service to us, to Emma for helping make it run smoothly, to Katie, Calum and thebar staff for such great service and hard work. They plan it all and then do extra that you hadn’t even thought about . The food is incredible, the rooms are amazing and we had extra space for getting ready. We genuinely felt like we were treated so well. Not once do you feel like you’re just another couple getting married because it’s personalised and nothing is too much trouble. All the staff work so hard and it pays off. Our guests were delighted with the service, food, set up. Get yourself a visit to the hotel if you’re looking for a venue. You won’t regret it and this is the venue to make your wedding go off exactly as you would hope for, plus a little bit more. Beautiful grounds for photos too.

Just home from two nights stay and we only have good things to say about this hotel. From check in to check out, the staff were welcoming and nothing was too much bother. Our greyhounds were also made to feel very welcome and the hotel grounds are perfect for walks.||Our room in the annex was huge with a very comfortable bed and we have no complaints about the cleanliness or facilities. Breakfast was excellent with a good continental selection and choice of hot food. We had the full breakfast which was delicious with perfectly cooked poached and scrambled eggs. Everything was very fresh and tasty! We’re looking forward to our next visit!

The hotel staff was nice. Outstanding were: elisabeth, callem and claire ! The food is good, what they do have. Unfortunatly they didnt have the a la carte breakfast menu and they did run out of bread on one morning.. the rooms are nice, have a lovely charm to them. For the price we paid i would expect them to have everything in oder (kitchen)!! If you cant provide that, then dont put the menu card on the table or INFORM the guest before they actually want to order something you dont actually have...

Lovely and peaceful. Great location and views. Staff were efficient and friendly. Breakfast was lovely. Room was spacious and very clean. Fresh still and sparkling water on tap. Pool and spa facilities were good .||Only gripe ...the £6 surcharge for a change in breakfast...one of our party wanted avocado and toast... we'd paid £24 pp in advance...so £30 for avocado and toast

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights and it was a really nice experience. The hotel is set in excellent grounds and it looks amazing. The staff are all extremely friendly and very helpful. The location is good for access to Livingston and surrounding area and close enough to get to Edinburgh easily by car.
The pool and spa is very nice. The pool can get quite busy though but it’s a good size pool. It is a bit on the cooler side in the pool but nothing extreme and still nice.
The spa is very good and the staff were helpful and friendly and the back neck and shoulder massage is well worth it.
The breakfast is very nice with a cooked breakfast and continental options. Really enjoyed the breakfast.
We didn’t use the restaurant so can’t comment on that but for those not wanting to use the restaurant, there are takeaway options nearby that can deliver to the hotel.
The rooms aren’t as modern as I usually like which is why I put 4 star however, it was comfortable, clean and had a good tv, and coffee and tea facilities. Although the room isn’t as modern as I like, it is an older building and would expect a not so modern appearance in rooms.
Plenty of parking at the hotel too.
Overall, really enjoyable trip and would recommend staying here and would stay again.

This hotel used to be outstanding. The staff are clearly overworked, we saw a few housekeeping staff still cleaning rooms at 4/5pm on our stay. I would suggest replacing the pillows they are so flat and are clearly old. Mould on tiles and overflow hole in bathroom very bad. The photos and headboard in the room thick with dust. ||Breakfast ok although overpriced for what you get on the plate. Overall stay was OK though. ||Staff are the best thing about this hotel however as a guest I can see there are many management issues. Would stay again as I've never had a bad stay at houstoun although that was before covid

Fantastic hotel, stunning grounds. Booking.com missed breakfast off, however we cannot prove it. Cheaper to book direct. Bar service was poor, waiting over 10 minutes to be served.

Prices are reasonable, however very expensive for some items. Drinks are expensive.

Rooms nice and clean, staff very nice.
