Our stay at the MacDonald Kilhey Court Hotel was absolutely delightful! From the moment we arrived, the warm and welcoming staff made us feel right at home. The hotel is beautifully situated, surrounded by stunning gardens that provided a serene backdrop for our family getaway.

The rooms were spacious and impeccably clean, offering all the amenities we could wish for. We especially appreciated the comfortable beds that ensured a good night's sleep after our fun-filled days.
Overall, our experience at the MacDonald Kilhey Court Hotel exceeded our expectations. We left with wonderful memories and can't wait to return for another fantastic family holiday!

Stayed at the hotel and chose the best room in the house. Not disappointed and we have stayed a few times. We have not eaten here as we only stay here so we can go to Albert’s restaurant in Standish. Staff very helpful.

An honest review||This hotel is absolutely not what is being advertised on their website. What they are advertising is this hotel a few years ago and it’s in a very very very different state.||On arrival you enter the grounds to a nice Victorian house with a huge car park but soon realise the gardens or car park have not been maintained for a long long time, weeds, piles of rubbish scattered around everywhere. ||Enter the main reception and into the lobby of the main house, still with its original features which is a nice welcome but needs a lick of paint to brighten it up. On check in I asked where the gym was only to be told “it’s now been closed for some time” the website still advertises a spa and gym and when working away hotels are picked for their amenities. ||The room, I checked in to room 211 to see a very dark, dated room that had clearly not been modernised for a long time. The corridors and communal areas are all the same, very dark, very dated and need modernisation. The tele didn’t work and it was a plug in heater.||In the evening I headed to the main house and to the bar, again nice original features but again needs modernisation to go with the features. When I asked where the restaurant was I was told “this hotel doesn’t serve food anymore but you can get takeaway ordered” absolutely no where on their website does it say that food is not served and actively advertises it as having its full features. ||In the morning it does serve breakfast in a lovely huge room on the back with a grand piano gather dust overlooking the grounds. Breakfast was good except the juices which have clearly been watered down so much its water. ||That staff at the hotel were all good and helpful but the hotel as is is terrible. It’s a huge shame as the hotel could be amazing, the grounds could be amazing if looked after, the spa and gym looked good so could be nice if it’s was open, the rooms could be good with some paint and modernisation , the main house has lots of character and original features but needs a massive amount of money spent on it. It’s needs a massive modernisation to have a character hotel with all the features of a modern hotel that’s expected. ||After looking at trip advisor when sat in my dark room without a working television it appears it was once a brilliant hotel that has been slowly working its way in to a state of disrepair over a number of years and the owners have done nothing.|| I would suspect this will only be a hotel for a short time before it’s closed and sold off as the amount of money needed to bring this up to a decent standard would be huge. It will be huge shame as the potential could be amazing.

A beautiful countryside hotel, exquisite lobby with marble pillars and high ceilings. Spacious rooms with antique furniture. Receptionist was very welcoming after a long drive. Some water in the rooms would be nice

Stunning location and beautiful clean rooms, lovely breakfast and amazing service from everyone we saw during our stay, would definitely recommend!

The location of the hotel is great & staff friendly. However, no meals served, no snacks served, bar only opens at 3.30, no pumps on bar, bottles of lager or spirits. Bitter or cider, not on offer. Spa closed. With n o bar, no spa,, no restaurant you basically get a bed, that's it. Expected at least snacks available. Breakfast, you don't get shown to a table & absolutely everything help yourself, see no staff whilst having breakfast. Room & shower was OK.

My sister had booked her wedding at this venue only for them to cancel on her 3 weeks before the big day as they wanted to hold a conference instead. The women on the phone was patronising towards my sister and they wouldn’t refund anything nor contribute anything towards all the costs that had occurred and had to be changed due to the change of venue. Luckily my sister found a much nicer venue and they were absolutely amazing with her and so understanding.

The place is beautiful, the rooms are.. okay. There were a lot of bugs and spiders in the room. The bathroom was dirty. But the shower was powerful and the bed was comfy. The staff were lovey and super nice. They have a buffet breakfast for £15 but I left early. Smelt good tho 🙂 overall not a bad place to stay for a little stop off.
