I was in the 'small double' which was a converted attic room. It was the cheapest room advertised and was clearly described as a small double to manage expectations. Still a reasonable size, comfortable and well appointed. The odd shape small bedroom door was quaint. Decor was traditional in keeping with the property which was nice to see. Grand high ceiling stairway up the centre of the building is a highlight with paintings etc to capture your attention, as was the driveway with some very grand trees leading up to the front of the house for wow factor. Host was lovely. I had to leave super early missing the included cooked breakfast but a continental was laid out ready for me.

I want to start by saying that the staff at the hotel were incredibly warm and welcoming, which I greatly appreciated. However, I found that the hotel might not be the best fit for business travelers. Here are a few areas that could use improvement:

There was no 4G/5G coverage and the Wi-Fi was quite unreliable, which made it difficult to stay connected.
The rooms lacked soundproofing, so I had to use earplugs at night and found it challenging to make private calls during the day which, coupled with the Wi-Fi, led to me working from my car.
There was a dog staying at the hotel that barked several times, which added to the noise issues.
There were no nearby restaurants, so driving was necessary for meals. Additionally, the breakfast provided was not up to standard.
The water from the taps had a brownish tint, which was concerning.
The overall cleanliness could be improved, as I noticed cobwebs on the lampshade and the general appearance and smell reminded me of a retirement home.
The TV in the room was quite small, even smaller than my PC monitor at home.
There was only one plug socket available, which had to be shared between the kettle, TV, radiator, phone charger, laptop, and hair styling tools.
There was not much desk space, making it difficult to work comfortably.

On the positive side, the hotel is located in a beautiful countryside area, the blackout curtains were effective, and the bed was comfortable, although the pillows could be better. Overall, I'm puzzled as to this being considered a 4 star hotel.
I hope this feedback is helpful for future improvements!

We only stayed one night for a nearby family birthday but what a find! Lovely peaceful location and a house brimful of character. If you want modern and impersonal, go elsewhere, but this elegant house, run by a trust, deserves to be preserved and appreciated. Lovely breakfast, very reasonably priced and dog friendly in countryside environment but not far from Norwich.

Lovely house in beautiful grounds. Unfortunately checked in on Thursday night to a lovely greeting. Staff member was friendly and jovial. Had a wonderful breakfast Friday morning. Full English for me and my wife had poached eggs on toast. Very fresh eggs, rich colour and perfectly cooked.|Unfortunately... |The following morning we both had pre ordered the full English with poached eggs. One plate came out, sausage was cold in the middle and the tomatoes had clearly been microwaved as were so hot and had disintegrated. The poached egg was a splatter on the plate and not edible. My wife had finished her breakfast before mine had come out. When I asked why I was told it was because I wanted a poached egg too. (the Friday all three poached eggs came out at the same time.)|I wasn't impressed at all, when I did get my breakfast the egg was far too undercooked, the bacon lukewarm and the sausage cold.|On check out we did say we were unhappy with the breakfast and were fobbed off with a blunt that she had cooked it and it was how it was supposed to be.|It appears that there is no chef so the breakfast is cooked by multiple people. |Avoid breakfast on Saturdays!

Mangreen is a perfect place for a relaxing getaway but also a great location to discover beautiful Norfolk. Beautiful looking building and the staff was very welcoming and friendly.

Immediately noticed that the hotel was very tired looking and could do with a re - vamp.
I think the room we stayed in was a really lovely size but really could do with being refreshed with new furniture.
This room could be luxurious with a bit of effort.
We had loads of lady bugs in the room.
Not very many plugs.
The WiFi is really not very good.
The shower head was broken and so when we used the shower it was soaking the floor and the sides of the walls.
The sofa and arm chair had lots of stains on.
The curtains had quite a bit of mold on them.
The bed itself it quite comfortable and we did sleep well.

I have also just noticed from the reviews that the same room we stayed in over the bank holiday weekend that this was said and so obviously didn't have a deep clean because it was exactly the same when we had stayed in it - The Room was a great size and very clean apart from a sugary residue on the TV, wardrobe, it looks like a bottle of coke had exploded as the ceiling was also stained.

I Dont think that the price of the room meets the standard expected, I think with a bit more attention to detail and the rooms being brought up to scratch this could be an amazing place.
I think maybe adding a little fridge in the room with fresh milk would be great also.
The breakfast was not really to nice either , good quantity but just don't not taste great.

Booked for a private function, the staff could not do enough to help and make the day go as smoothly as possible. A real hidden gem of a place with a tranquility not expected considering the nearby construction work. Katrina deserves special praise for her efforts in making our time at Mangreen Country House special.
