Hotel has beautiful views over golf course and sea with it being a picturesque 15 minute walk into North Berwick centre. Our dog friendly room was large and the bed and bathroom scrupulous clean. However, the decor was extremely dated, mismatched and a bit bizarre. Good bar and excellent breakfast. It's a huge hotel and areas have obviously been refurbished so perhaps the dog friendly rooms aren't on the refurb list? We'd definitely return.

Hotel has a lovely situation. The pool facilities are quite nice. The bed in the room was very comfortable. But thats about it. I wasn’t going to post on TripAdvisor but after completing the feedback form weeks ago and asking someone to contact me and no one did, I felt I should.||We paid over £400 per night for a delux room. Having seen standard rooms that other family stayed in, i'm not sure what was "delux" about our room. It was no different to other rooms infact our bathroom was worse. Its definitely not worth getting a delux room as the only thing delux is the pricetag.||The bathrooms were dated and the water pressure non existent. Showers were challenging as there just wasn't enough water. We saw a dried contact lens from a previous guest stuck to the wall in the bathroom which was quite disgusting.||We had dinner in the bar on night one. Service wasn't great. Food arrived lukewarm. we were a large group so we didn't say anything at the time. Assumed it was a one off. Sadly it wasn't||Ordering drinks in the bar was challenging despite it not being busy. Orders were mixed up and delivered wrong.||Breakfast was a shambles both mornings. The buffet is poor and not what you expect from a 5*. The hot food menu is OK however portions were small and most served on side plates. Both mornings we had to try really hard to get someone to take orders. After 30 minutes waiting we had to walk across the room and ask someone to take our order. Both days our hot food orders got mixed up. On the first day they apologised and agreed to bring out the right order. On the second when we pointed out that one dish was wrong, the waitress just said there was a mix up and that was what the kitchen had sent and walked away leaving the wrong order with us. I don't know why they wouldn't bring out what was ordered.||The hotel has so much potential with the situation and the facilities that it has. However the service let it down really, really badly. On departure we weren't even asked how our stay was... Probably for the best!||We will return to North Berwick but will definitely look to stay elsewhere. The Marine is nothing short of a rip off and a massive disappointment.

Everything was brilliant, from the reception, to the concierge , to the restaurant to the room. Absolutely delightful. ||We will definitely be staying there again. We couldn't have wished for more. They even provided a complimentary bottle of Prosecco for our anniversary, ready and waiting in our beautiful room. The view of the sea was stunning. This review just doesn't do it justice. Please visit if you can, you will not be disappointed.

We spend the weekend at this hotel. We didn’t have a good experience at the beginning : torn bathrobe and dirty pillow case, contacted the receptionist and we got the new ones. They weee quick in replacing them but the room and everything else should have been checked really before presenting the room to guests. Besides this , I had a very good experience at the spa. My husband booked me in for a facial treatment I have had many facials in the past but this experience was the best. Sarah made me feel very comfortable, she took her time, was gentle and she was very thorough. I highly recommend this spa and I highly recommend Sarah.

This was our third visit and, sadly, probably our last. Location + reception area remain superb. However there were disappointments this time. We didn't get the room we'd asked + paid for - sea view rather than de-luxe sea view. Shower had no pressure. Had to ask 3 times for dog bed. Dinner is no longer local Scottish cuisine but Italian! Very limited + expensive. Arrived on time for 7 pm booking. At 7.30 were asked what we wanted + at 8 pm finally served. Breakfast was ok but not as good as previous visits. Much to love about this place but service + facilities just not what they were.

Just home after a lovely 3 night stay at this rather grand hotel.|On arriving at reception the lady was very friendly welcoming and informative.|We received the said upgrade to the suite as part of the autumn deal. We had a beautiful room 221. A corner suite with fabulous bay windows, giving the best sea/golf views one could hope for on a stay here.|The interior design is "wow", they really went for it with the wall paper, but it really works!!!! It looks very grand and retro with the furnishings. I love the side lights, felt like I'd gone back in time.|The bathroom was big. Only negative about the bathroom would be the water pressure from the taps is poor, but probably can't be helped in such an old building. Also, l am tall, a short person would struggle to reach over the sink ?so take a stool with you.|The rooms were made daily and they were kept really clean and tidy.|House keeping were on hand if you needed anything extra.|The toiletries are in theme with the hotel and old fashioned style. I did find the little tubes a bit annoying to handle and not very environmentally friendly. But they are cute.|We used the restaurant, and were pleased with the menu. The food was good, we had the smash burger . Service was great. Nice polite staff, they looked happy and looked after us well. We found all the staff very friendly and polite, willing to chat to us when we spoke.|This hotel is dog friendly, and our dog absolutely loved her holiday. It's great to be able to walk accross the Golf course onto the beach. |I have forgotten to mention the beds... Our bed was very comfortable. No problems and had a good night sleep.|Breakfast was good, service excellent. Nice selection on the menu to choose from. I like smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on sour dough and my husband enjoyed a Scottish breakfast and another day tried the avocado smash on sourdough, he reported it was very good. Usual selection of pastries etc at hand aswell.|Overall, this was a fantastic find. I have never been to north Berwick before, and it is a lovely place to visit.|Also is a must... Book a spa treatment. They use the isgha products, which are really nice. The facilities are compact, but really good. The staff are friendly and helpful.|I can't wait to return.

The Marine Hotel in North Berwick has a fabulous location - right on the sea front with super views to Bass Rock. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Bar food was good and breakfast was fine though very small portions. But the biggest let down is the decor in the bedrooms - dark brown and orange flowered wallpaper with mismatched side tables. It was really oppressive and claustrophobic. I understand a lot of refurbishment was done only a few years ago, but the bedroom interior designer should be sacked! Downstairs was lovely. That’s the second time I have stayed here this year but tbh I don’t think I will book again because the wallpaper is so off putting. Truly off putting. ?

We had booked a spa day with afternoon tea along with a massage. The spa is really good with a pool, 2 saunas, 2 steam rooms, ice room, ice tubs and a hydro therapy pool which is both inside and outside. Overall the facilities are really good. Some of it looks a wee bit tired with tiles missing etc but changing/showers were excellent. A big call out to Karen and her team for exemplary service. Nothing was too much trouble and really added to making our day special.

We had an afternoon tea which was nice and again the service was really good. The view of the garden/golf course/beach was stunning. Felt that the crockery did not match the hotel and surroundings. It was white but looked discoloured/stained. There was what we thought was dishwasher residue in the cups and there was tea leaves spilled on top of the tea pot…sadly. A bit more attention to detail would could have made the difference.

Just to be clear..we had a great time and would recommend booking. The small points raised are the reason why we did not give 5 stars.
