Fantastic piping hot jacket potatoes today. Vibrant and busy cafe but lots of smiley faces and such a warm welcome.

Consistently good food (I have been here many times over the last 5 years) quick service and friendly atmosphere. It might not have an adventurous menu or any ground breaking presentations, but for a light lunch, afternoon tea or a quick coffee break and rest it's perfect. Nice option to sit inside the cafe or outside, inside the royal arcade.

Date of Visit: 22/07/2024 - The service from the young blonde girl was *EXCELLENT* and she was very accommodating in my request of warming up my chocolate cake and adding squirty cream. The fact that she checked the date on the cream too shows that she’s very conscientious, so thank you for that. I thought my coffee was of an above average standard and my chocolate cake, although a little sickly; was delicious - The £6 Coffee and Cake deal is very reasonable indeed. My only minor criticism(s) is that my wife didn’t enjoy her cheesecake as she said it lacked taste and the coffee was ‘just okay’ for her (personal preference) Thank you for your service + we will definitely return if in the area, however my wife will obviously choose something different 🙂

We decided we wanted a nice quiet coffee and piece of cake
Waited in the queue for 10 minutes
There was only one lady serving and making coffee while the other 4 were standing around In the back room chatting and laughing
We ordered two cappuccino's and a biscoffee cheesecake
The cappuccino was awful, absolutely no foam and a real disappointment after waiting so long for it (attached photos)
When we brought it back to the table it had all spewed over onto the saucer, you're meant to get a 3rd of foam and I think there's meant to be more in a late than what we got in our "cappuccino's"
The cake was definitely not fresh however was the best part of our experience
I went up and had to wait over 5 more minutes to complain about the coffee
This time a different lady served us, she wasn't apologetic and just wanted to give us 1 replacement coffee
Once there was only one staff member serving and the others were in the back
They were gossiping and chatting away with no care in the world
The cutlery had stains and had to dig for a clean one

Tables were dirty and needed cleaning down. we had to sit outside as there was few spaces with clean tables inside

Wouldn't return £3.30 for a coffee made with no care or attention to detail, it's not like it was a busy lunchtime rush

Was a little bit disappointed with the service here. I ordered a sausage roll and milkshake and went to sit down when my friend who was standing heard the server shout sausage roll from behind the bar when i was across the room, instead of bringing it over even though it was on a plate. My friend went up to order 1 minute after me and she was not allowed to have a toastie heated up. I also felt that the young server wasn’t given efficient customer service training when taking my order however I do think it’s down to the managers to be practising with her.

Absolutely lovely little gem. My mum used to bring me here in the early 2000s. I bring my own son here now.
Lovely cheesecake. Lovely pot of tea. Thank you for a lovely service.

I had the cheese scone which was soft inside as I expected it to be, resembling a soft and buttery, cheesy baguette, and it’s the second best I’ve had in Norwich. This was despite it being the end of the day and not being warmed up, which is still pretty impressive. The slices of cake here are big too. The tables are kept very clean and they are cleared in a short amount of time. There are also lots of seats and the atmosphere is quite casual, so it’s a simple place to chill.
