Just got back from a 3 night stay here and can’t recommend it enough. Lovely en-suite room with views over fields including the neighbours 2 donkeys. Llama’s/alpacas & chickens. A very lovely, quiet spot. Although Jill, the owner was away, her friend Kim more than adequately looked after us. Lovely, tasty breakfasts each morning, cooked to order with engaging conversation.
My only disappointment was not being able to sneak away with her adorable little pup Jess. Will just have to go back sometime and try again!! ?

It was a privilege to stay in this beautiful home where Jill made us so welcome, helped by her lovely friend Kim who looked after us for a few days while Jill was away. The facilities were immaculate with great attention to detail such as cookies, a selection of drinks and a fridge with milk and water in our room. Martlets is in a beautiful peaceful setting, close to restaurants in Shanklin, and within easy walking distance of Shanklin Chine and the beach. Thank you Jill and Kim - the best B&B we have ever stayed in. We cannot rate Martlets highly enough.

Just perfect. We loved everything about this lovely house. Jill the owner was super friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Great location, very quiet but within easy reach of old town Shanklin. Beautiful room, very clean with nice touches like fresh milk and cookies daily. A real home from home, can’t rate it highly enough. Not forgetting Jess and Jonty, Jill’s friendly dogs who always had a warm welcome arriving back after a day sightseeing.

We have been coming to the Isle of Wight for 50 years including staying at The Winterbourne and Luccombe Hall but this is our favourite. Its set in the most beautiful peaceful setting and yet easily accessible to all the lovely places to visit on the Isle of Wight.

Jill is so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble and goes that extra mile and has thought of all the smallest things to make this the most relaxing place to stay.

Jill has two very well behaved dogs (Jess and Jonty) who are delightful in entertaining us. The breakfasts are superb and Jill catered so well for our nut allergy daughter.

We have just come back from our third 4 night stay and already booked for next year so I think that says it all.

Thank you Jill,Jess and Jonty for such fantastic stays with you

Located a short distance from the old town and Shanklin Chine, this is a great little base to explore the island. Very clean, great breakfasts too. Definitely worth a return visit. We were lucky with the weather, we managed to have our breakfasts outside nearly every day.

Jill is an outstanding host, who went out of her way to make our stay at Martlets exceptional. Nestled on the edge of Old Shanklin, Martlets is ideal for a break on the Isle of Wight. Within a 10-minute walk of a range of pubs and restaurants, the accommodation is well placed for touring the island. Our room was also spotless and extremely comfortable. Breakfast could not have been better. Thank you!

What a fantastic place to stay in the Isle of Wight! All the communication with Martlets was extremely quick, clear and helpful, with loads of information about ferries, attractions and eateries. Our room in Martlets was beautiful, clean and large enough for all our detritus! It also had a large ensuite with a bath and a separate shower. The breakfast was excellent – plenty of freshly cooked choices, as well as cereals, fruit and yoghurt.|Martlets is a lovely house in a perfect, and quiet, location and only a 5 minute walk from pubs and restaurants. You can walk easily down to the Shanklin seafront in 10 minutes or so, and venture further to Sandown if you fancy a longer walk. The railway station is easy to get to…so you can then access the train up to Ryde – or switch to the steam railway line if the mood takes you. We didn’t use the buses on our trip, but they seem to be quite regular and they visit the main areas of the island that you would want to access.|When we visit the Isle of Wight again in the future, we won’t hesitate to get back in touch with Martlets to book a room. It was an absolute delight to stay there. Thank you for looking after us so well.
