We had an absolutely lovely stay and Jenny and Straun couldn't have been more accommodating hosts. We stayed one night while trekking Hadrian's Wall Path, and certainly they were so kind and considerate of this, offering us a ride to dinner to save our tired feet! The room was spacious and well equipped, and the breakfast delicious.

This couple were amazing from the start , very accommodating & kind. We walked in covered in mud & rain they welcomed us in and dried our boots and even offered to wash our cloths. They then dropped us off at a nearby pub , the food was amazing then they picked us up. Great stay , and the house is wonderful.

This was about a mile off the Hadrian's Wall Path that we were hiking. We were hiking through the field to get to the Matfen High House B&B and saw our host on the lookout for us:) She and her husband were very welcoming and full of good information. We heard about the history of the house and how they brought up their family here. Breakfast was delicious and the home cooked bread was fantastic. For me the bathtub (that seems to be extra long) was a delight after a day of hiking. My husband still prefers a shower and that was fine too. It is an old house and had that type of charm. Big bedroom and bathroom. We enjoyed our stay!

This B & B was off the path a fair amount with no clear path to get to it. Didn’t love that but we made it. |The initial impression was so so….it’s an old farmhouse and looks likes it’s seen better days. The hosts were welcoming but the conversation slightly awkward. |The home is in need of repairs and updating…. Maybe a good cleaning as well. Our room was large, comfortable, clean but very dated! I felt like I stepped back in time to the 1950’s/60’s. Even the bed appeared to be from that time period. |With that we had our needs met…space, beds, electricity and a good bathroom. We felt 100% safe/secure here. |The hostesses offered to drive us to the pub for dinner, we declined since we had a huge lunch and didn’t need another big meal. | No other guests staying the night we did, I was a little disappointed as I enjoy a little conversation either in the afternoon or breakfast. This doesn’t reflect on our hosts, just my preference to stay where we have the option to chat. |The breakfast was ok. All the usual items were there but everything just seemed meh. The eggs were a little gray in color- why |A loaf of fresh homemade bread was offered and it delicious but otherwise breakfast wasn’t very enjoyable. || |I try to show grace in all situations but sorry this place has seen better days and while the hosts were nice enough, every interaction with them was awkward. || ||||

Comfortable guest accommodation in a lovely quirky old house with rural views. Perfect for us after a days walking. Very comfortable room and a warm welcome from Jenny and Struan who gave us a lift to and from the local pub for dinner.

Absolutely beautiful house, lovely kind and welcoming hosts. Our room was enormous, and absolutely full of character and old-fashioned country house charm. We stayed while walking Hadrian's Wall and the owners very kindly booked us dinner at the local pub and gave us a lift to and fro.

We stayed whilst walking hadrian's wall. The room was ginormous and there were loads of tea and coffee etc. The bed was very comfy. The breakfast was very generous either lots of homemade bread and juice.

Beautiful home with nice large rooms. Hosts were very nice (and came with an adorable dog). Delicious breakfast with particular accommodation for our gluten free travelers (thanks!).
