6/5 stars for Wendy! The place was spotless! Wendy gave us everything we could wish for and more! As soon as we arrived wendy showed us around and pointed out the facilities and amenities! Loved the microwave-was actually so convenient and brill of Wendy to have thought of it! Love whitley bay as it is, Wendy made it so much better! Best visit yet even bumped into in Wendy at laurels for a boogie!! Will deffo be back and couldn’t reccomend our wend’s guest house enough!

We booked the Guest house via booking.com, it was a great price and made so easy via the app. Prior to arriving Wendy had been in touch and so helpful and answered any questions we had. On arrival, parking was easy, with free parking around the streets which felt very safe. Wendy was ace and everything was made so easy, she was a great person to deal with. The guest house was great, clean and so close to all the amenities and the beach. The hotel is very dog-friendly. I would recommend this hotel and really look forward to returning in 2024.

Lovely guest house in a brilliant location for the beach, shops and bars. Wendy the lady who owns it is so friendly and welcoming she made us feel right at home. The rooms are spacious the bed was comfortable and there’s a vanity unit in the room which was handy because it is a shared bathroom and toilet situation which wasn’t an issue for us the place is absolutely spotless. We will definitely stay there again.

The Melrose Guest House was very clean and comfortable, with very easy access to the beach , shops , bars and Metro (all within a few minutes walk) . Wendy was very hospitable, knowledgeable and friendly.We stayed there because I was taking my son to his first football game, and we wanted to stay where it was quiet and relaxing, but with easy access to the hustle and bustle of Newcastle city centre . The Melrose was perfect for this. Thanks Wendy (and we won 5-1). Kevin

Used booking.com for an overnight stay, owner really helpful with advice on where to park & how to access the key, the hallway was pleasant, the room was small, wash basin & kettle in the room, the bed was very uncomfortable the springs were digging in & made a noise when you turned over as did the bed so we wedged towels behind the headboard, (we got them out the cupboard as none in room on arrival) there was an odour when we arrived like stale washing, the smell you get when you’ve left items in the machine & they’ve dried!||Would recommend you take a robe or a dressing gown as bathroom facilities are shared & saves you having to get dressed.||Wendy did make contact to apologise for the mattress stating it was relatively new, I don’t know how it hasn’t been mentioned before as we got next to no sleep, I wouldn’t return based on this experience!

The host Wendy was very helpful when we stayed in her home in 2015 for 5 months,
We was working during the day very early starts so missed out on the breakfast
If I'm ever in the area again will definitely stay again if the host has rooms available
