We stayed overnight at the Meon Valley hotel as a family of 4, in a family room. The room were spacious with 2 double beds. The sleep was awful, the beds were rock hard and none of us had a good night's sleep. On arrival, we ate in the restaurant. We had a chicken burger and chips, burger and chips and fish and chips. The food was decent. In the morning we ate breakfast. Again this was nice, we had pretty much a full English as part of self service and cereals. We stayed here due to us going on a cruise out of Southampton. In the morning a taxi picked us up, it takes about 30-40 minutes to get to the port. The hotel staff were friendly and printed our luggage tags. Overall the stay was OK.

I had a pleasant stay at Hotel Meon Valley, with a few minor notes.|The golf course and gym were fantastic, offering plenty of opportunities for both exercise and relaxation. The pool area was also a lovely spot to unwind.|The reception staff were absolutely amazing! They were friendly, welcoming, and very helpful, making the check-in process smooth and enjoyable.|The room was not only comfortable but also impressively clean. The housekeeping team did an amazing job, which greatly enhanced my experience.|The only aspect that could be improved is the food. I felt that the variety and quality could be better, so I hope for more options and higher standards next time.|Overall, Hotel Meon Valley is a great choice for a relaxing getaway, but I’d love to see improvements in the dining experience. I would definitely consider returning!

I just wanted to give a big thanks to the housekeeping staff for doing such an amazing job during my stay. My room was always spotless and comfortable—really great service!||On a side note, I think the food could use a bit of improvement in both quality and variety. With some tweaks, it could make the overall experience even better.||Thanks again for the great stay!

Had a lovely weekend at Meon Valley. The Saturday was a big family get together and all the food and service was excellent. We stayed overnight in a comfy room with king-sized bed and large TV - good as it was during the Olympics!

Needs to be accessed by car as a bit out of the way but in pleasant grounds alongside a golf course. Has good restaurants and a small but decent indoor swimming pool.

Prices were not as expensive as I’d usually expect for a country club type hotel. Plenty of parking available but best to let hotel know in advance if a disabled spot is required.

Check-in wasn’t quite available at stated time but only a little late so no great bother.

All in all, we had a very pleasant stay, our second time at this hotel. Only complaint was the lift broke down and from other reviews, this is quite a common occurrence.

8 Golfers for a GolfBreaks weekend. I had used the venue probably 8 or so years ago when it was a Marriott and we had a great experience, now owned by Britannia and it was a totally different experience. The key issues were 1) the round of golf on Saturday took over 5 1/2 hours to get round and we finished in the dark, either widen the tee times or take less booking. 2) Dinner 8 years ago was a three course meal, this time an orange buffet (we weren’t told about the change), it was awful. 3) the staff were great, there simply weren’t enough of them. The bar was being managed by one member of staff who was also doubling up as the bar menu waitress, it was simply too busy for one member of staff. It’s clear Britannia is maximising profits and not interested in clients returning. Not a good experience all fed back to GolfBreaks. Would never go back. @Britannia, do you want to defend yourselves

This is a very OK hotel. We stayed overnight with the intention of a relaxing night away. The hotel is fine, the reception looks luxurious but that is about it, the rooms are very basic and dated, we paid £75 room only for 1 night and definitely wouldn’t have paid any more. The £5 charge to use the leisure facilities (pool, gym sauna) is ridiculous, why charge paying guests to use the facilities advertised as a “spa hotel”? The hotel itself is a maze and totally inaccessible for anyone with mobility issues. The signs for the restaurant and gym and pool make no sense and you could be wandering the halls forever looking for what you need. The staff are friendly but slow service. The restaurant is extortionate for very basic food, you can tell it’s a freezer special and yet the cheapest meal on the menu was £16 for fish and chips. The drinks were also pricey as you would expect in a hotel bar. We overall enjoyed our stay but probably wouldn’t return due to lack of customer service and the general outdated theme throughout the hotel. Note for anxious drivers: we drove here after a day out in Winchester, the road leading up to the hotel is awful a tiny little country road only wide enough for 1 car, unsure what we’d have done had another car come the other way!

I would highly recommend that no one stays here. The staff are unhelpful and rude. We were due to stay 2 nights but due the such unruly guests we couldn’t face staying another night. I had to phone reception to get them to say something to guests, but didn’t work and they continued for another 2 hours. A call from my mobile that cost me as there’s no phone in the room. Guests shouting and slamming doors. On top of that there were stains on the bedding, the room was wrong to what they had said, couldn’t get warm as radiator made so much noise. Asked for a refund as we didn’t even stay the second night and the hotel ignored my 6+ emails. Hotel.com contacted them and they refused. I am hugely disappointed as never had to complain about a hotel stay before. So angry, and feel so let down that not one person has helped this. I feel as if this hotel had taken our money and left us with nothing but more stress. This was supposed to be a relaxing time away as my husband suffers with his health and we had this. If I could give it a 0 star, I would have.

Stayed here with my son for 4 nights, due to a house move delay.

We know the local area very well. This was always going to be a chilled stay in the middle of nowhere, because there really is nothing of much interest within several miles of the hotel.

In my opinion, the Company which operates the hotel needs to send a task force to sort the place out, both in terms of its appearance and the level of service. Most 4 star hotels (particularly those with spa facilities) are very well organised. This one, however, is not.

We should bear in mind that cost of our stay was very low. That fact alone should have alerted me to the issues that we encountered.

Plus points:
Beautifully peaceful location. A couple of very well-meaning employees (Manager Cristos included). Hot drinks facilities in our room. Now I’m struggling…
Minus points:
Our room did NOT get serviced during our entire stay. That seriously needs to change. Charge more for the rooms, employ more staff.
I believe the Spa facilities should be FREE to residents, but CHARGEABLE to non-residents.
Two free small bottles of water were provided free on the first day, but chargeable on every consequent day.
Our room was tired. Damp/peeling wallpaper. Lack of electrical sockets. My bed was not comfortable, but my son slept well in his bed.
The staff whom we spoke with were a mix of very helpful, to utter disgraces.
Every morning, when sat outside, I was greeted with the sight of multiple dogs peeing everywhere… not sure if people had control of their pets.

My greatest bugbear during our stay, was the sheer volume of unsavoury characters who seem to frequent the place. I won’t say too much, but I felt there was a good chance that “illicit business” was taking place, although I didn’t witness it with my own eyes. Either that, or maybe the hotel is used as some kind of half way house for people. I’m not casting aspersions, it just gave me a generally uneasy feeling. I would’ve expected that kind of feeling if we’d stayed in an inner city 2 star B&B, but not in a 4 star country spa hotel.

As someone who spent years troubleshooting businesses, I would love to get my hands on this place, give it a damn good shake up, and turn it in to an establishment which everybody would be proud of, both employees and guests alike.

Cristos, the Hotel Manager, I suppose is following orders from above, but is a very personable man!

Thank you Cristos for your effort, but the powers-that-be need to remedy a number of issues in my opinion, so that the hotel may flourish. All the best to you.

PLEASE… Strive to be the BEST, not the cheapest. Your business WILL survive! And probably FLOURISH.
