I stayed for 2 nights this week as my usual place was full. Smooth pleasant check in with loads of free parking. The hallways to the rooms are a bit shabby but the room was fine and clean. Really quiet at night even though there was a wedding party one night. Breakfast was standard buffet type with more than enough choice. I only ate one of the nights but was spot on. No air conditioning but wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

Was recently at this hotel while working away from home. Staff at reception, housekeeping and food and beverage were all fantastic, couldn’t do enough for me. My room was serviced every day and cleaned to a very high standard. Food in the restaurant was reasonably priced if you get the dinner vouchers. Will definitely be back. Thanks for a great stay.

We had such a lovely time at the Mercure. I would like to personally thank all of your staff who were very helpful, we were told about the dinner deal which we had and it was delicious, hot and quickly served. The breakfast was plentiful, again the staff were very helpful. We had a twin room, it was spotless and comfortable. The bathroom was also spotless down to the seal around the bath. There was a good selection of tea and coffee in our room too.
We had a drink at the bar at night and sat in front of the fire which was lovely. The hotel is so close to the town too which was great for us.
Thank you so much, will definitely be back. I would highly recommend staying here.

Overall. The hotel is very tired and dated. To account for this, I would have expected the customer service to be high quality. While front of house and room service were excellent, it was really let down by the restaurant/bar. ||Rooms and facilities. My room was dated, with noticeable damage and staining, and the Wi-Fi was very poor. Given the concrete-and-steel construction and limited mobile signal, the hotel really should have installed additional WiFi access points rather than expecting guests to change rooms (a move that may not solve the problem anyway).||Food and beverage. For the first night, the “starter” arrived as greasy chicken strips, carelessly plated. After a 40-minute wait, the main course appeared: a barbecue burger, which, despite the menu’s implication of a classic cheeseburger, was drowned in an unpleasant BBQ sauce and lacked any seasoning. The second night was a curry, watery, thrown on the plate with out any care. It can out within 10 minutes of ordering, clearly turbochef. The plate itself had not been wiped from the stains of serving. For both nights, guests were asked where they prefer to sit - bar or restaurant - which implies table service, yet orders in the bar must be placed at the bar; this is never explained, leaving diners waiting unnecessarily. The quality of the food overall was poor, I’d recommend folk visit one of the local fast food locations for a better menu. With four staff on duty and the restaurant barely a quarter full, proactive service should be achievable, but instead they mostly chatted amongst themselves.||Chef. On my 2nd night I witnessed some concerning standards from the chef. I watched the chef emerge, spend 30 seconds coughing into his chef jacket in front of the bar. Hardly reassuring on the hygiene front. The chef got a bottle of coke from the bar, and later 4 bottles of premium water. None of this was put through the till or recorded. I assume this was for cooking, otherwise stock counts would be impacted.

Staff are ALL very friendly and willing to assist in any way they can. Rooms are super clean and comfortable. My only wish is that there were more rooms with walk-in showers, rather than a shower over the bath. If only the shower over the bath, then more hand grips, in strategic positions would be a GREAT comfort for those less young and/or less stable on the legs :). That said, I will always choost this hotel, if available. Thank you all.
