We had an amazing stay for our weekend in Oxford in this hotel.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was spacious and clean and the hotel is well located. Easy parking for your car and then a 10 min bus ride to the city centre.

Breakfast was not included in our room so we paid per person for the next morning breakfast and we were not disappointed

A wide variety of foods with 2 buffets, 1 with English breakfast and the other continental. Also the option to order something cooked from the kitchen was also included. Very tasty everything and the staff very polite, organised and quick.

Totally recommend it!

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The staff are absolutely lovely—helpful, welcoming, and always ready to assist. The breakfast and dinner were excellent, with a great selection. I really appreciated the made-to-order breakfast option alongside the buffet, as I prefer my eggs cooked a certain way.

The location is perfect in my opinion—just a 30-minute walk or a 15-minute trip by public transport to the city center. The walk itself is beautiful, with a scenic path along the Thames just a few minutes from the hotel. While close to Oxford, the hotel feels more like a countryside retreat, offering a peaceful escape with easy access to the city’s charm.

Would definitely stay here again!

One of those "bare minimum" hotels. Won't be staying here again.

To start with the good bits, the hotel has parking! And it's very close to a bus stop straight into town. The staff were nice enough to let us in to our hotel room early. The building is nice.

However when we arrived we found that our room hadn't been cleaned since the previous occupant departed. Mistakes like this happen, so I went to reception to explain the situation. I expected they'd apologise profusely, assure me and my partner that the room will be clean when we get back, and that I'd be happy and thank them.

In reality they didn't particularly seem to care - asked me if I wanted the room cleaned - and made no apology. It felt very ... cheap to be honest. Like no-one there had any interest in actually working at a hotel.

This was repeated somewhat when we returned later to find that the room had been very hastily remade and given the most perfunctory clean ever. There were still toothpaste marks on the sink, we found hairs still on the bedding, and the mattress cover was so sloppily installed that I had to remake it myself. The receptionist then explained to me that it must have been "rushed" when I also had to go down for another pair of pillows for my partner. I didn't really want to use any of the glasses etc. in case they were dirty too and felt quite uncomfortable in the end as irrational as it was.

I did finally get an apology from someone else when I politely explained that in the end we weren't that happy. But even then it was in a sort of "oh, these things happen" way. Not in other hotels, they don't. And we won't be staying in this one again.

The hotel itself was very nice and well presented. Smooth check in experience. My room however was quite unacceptable. I was put in Room 101 which was right next to reception and adjacent to a private staff room. Every hour through the night a generator of some description let out a huge noise and vibration on the other side of the wall where my headboard was. This woke me up 5 times during the night. Then at 0500 a lorry pulled up right outside my window and proceeded to start unloaded trolleys and cages. These were wheeled right past my room door and into the kitchen and lasted for over 30 minutes. Then the general Reception noise, including cleaning right outside my door at 0545. As such I had less than 2 hours sleep through the whole night. I lodged this with the front of house staff when i checked out, who assured me he would get the manager to contact me to discuss. It is now 4 days later and not a word. If you are going to stay here and you get room 101, refuse it.

We went to Oxford for 5 days in early December, spending 4 nights at Hawkwell House in Iffley Village, a short ride from central Oxford. Our room was large, spacious, beautifully set out and scrupulously clean. All the staff were kind and on top of everything. Breakfast was delicious. My husband loves a large breakfast - had full English every morning and raved about it. I like bread and coffee, and was just as satisfied with both. We had dinner there two nights -- the Chef is just GREAT! Delicious everything. Even though the hotel had nightly Christmas parties for local businesses, we were able to sleep and read without any interference whatsoever. Shout out to Wendy, at breakfast, who made an already nice time even nicer. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. (P/s - we did not drive in but we're able to get everywhere by local bus or taxi since Iffley Village is not far but is so tranquil and lovely.)

A fabulous overnight stay with 12 friends to celebrate Christmas. The staff were amazing. We had a private dining room and enjoyed a fabulous 3 course dinner. The staff went above and beyond to make our evening memorable. The hotel was beautifully decorated and the overall experience was amazing. Breakfast was varied and again the staff worked very hard. Thank you

Lovely hotel, very clean, staff are wonderfully kind. The breakfast is delicious. Very dog friendly. We always come here. The bed mattress is a too soft and the pillows are not the best, but other than that, it’s great.

We stayed at this hotel in early December with our 19-month-old baby and absolutely loved it!
Our room was very spacious, and the bedding was incredibly comfortable (it was impossible to get out of bed in the morning).
The breakfast was delicious!

The Christmas decorations were beautifully done! We thoroughly enjoyed our night at this hotel, which is ideally located.

A big thank you to the entire team, who were very welcoming!
