Staff very welcoming and friendly, room incredibly clean and comfortable, just stayed one night but would come back, let us leave our car in the car park so we could look around Coventry, only a few minutes walk away from the centre

This hotel has had a significant refurbishment of its rooms for paying guests so no longer resembles the hotel depicted in previous reviews. Obviously it also provides emergency/long stay accommodation for residents in a different wing, but the rooms in the part of the hotel for fee-paying guests are good. New bathrooms, beds, and all the usual extras such as tea and coffee are now included. They also have mini-fridges and microwaves in the rooms too. Staff are very friendly and cannot do enough to ensure you have a comfortable stay. There’s no hot breakfast available, but they do provide cereal, toast and beverages for breakfast in a large seating area by reception. Management could do with providing better pillows as they are very thin and flat, and also sugar in the rooms (only sweetener available at our stay but staff did locate a bowl of sugar on request). Also, it’s *very* warm as the heating is on all night (but you can turn off the radiator in rooms). Overall, it’s clean, spacious, and much improved. Would stay again.

Only thing that let this hotel down as a disabled guest is the stairs. We was in room 16 and it felt like ot was the farthest room in the hotel. As such I'm still suffering with my nerves after all the stairs.

So me and my partner stayed here as we're homeless, the heating didn't work, we had to literally sleep in our coats, please see the photos below of the state of our room, if I had a picture of the curtains I would post it but the curtains were a complete joke, they didn't even fit the window, the service charge is a complete waste of time too cause what are we actually paying a service charge for as there was nothing done. The price of the room is £75 a night may I add that's including in the so called service charge

I do agree with some of the people in the reviews the staff at reception are really nice and helpful.

Myself and my friend stayed at the Merrick lodge hotel last week. The hotel’s decor is very dated but the building itself is lovely! We were also told by staff that the whole place will be under going a refurb in the near future. It suited our needs, the hotel was clean and tidy and had no disturbance from other guests as suggested in many other reviews. The bed had a brand new mattress and room had a working fridge, kettle and microwave. As mentioned before decor is very dated but for £50 a night it does what it says on the tin! Staff at Merrick lodge are more than accommodating and couldn’t do more to help! Overall we had a lovely stay and will be returning again.

Like other reviews have said, extremely two faced and dishonest staff.

There was a sock over the fire detector ( breach of health and safety laws) stains over the carpet , no duvet just a blanket. Smelt of smoke, shared bathroom and cold . there were people in the next room smoking in around their children. Its just a grotty place and management seemed to not care saying that the room is adequate. I dont think so. I was placed here by local authority as I have become homeless. The problem is people think you should just take anything but that's not the case. Especially when you think of the fact that the hotel is paid up to 2000 pounds a month, and for what its disgusting
