The location and weather were amazing. This was enhanced by beautiful and immaculately kept grounds to explore. I especially enjoyed the walled kitchen garden which was in blossom. We received a wonderful welcome at reception on arrival and our accommodation exceeded our expectations. The dining room staff were particularly helpful in making a much anticipated family lunch very special which was important for us. In fact all staff we came into contact with could not have been more helpful. ||Parking was brilliant being ample and adjacent to the hotel. The spa looked very good but I did not have an opportunity to use it. Next time perhaps.||Should have mentioned food which was first class and plenty of choice with two different menus and top notch presentation.

Wonderful venue for our daughter's wedding. |This was a very small wedding 17 people in total and I know just how difficult it was for my daughter and her partner to find a beautiful venue which was prepared to accommodate such a small wedding.||A lot of the family and friends stayed in the hall for two days, the service, setting, food and not least the staff where wonderful, the whole atmosphere was so relaxed, but with staff always present if we need them. ||A falconer was hired to entertain the guests while the photographer took pictures, the beautiful grounds facilitated this perfectly. ||The food and service is excellent, the breakfast was extensive and of a high quality. |The wedding breakfast was wonderful, beautiful presented and just delicious. ||Room service was also excellent. ||I cannot rate this hall highly enough and I know all the guest felt the same.

Me and two friends had a lovely relaxing stay in one of the courtyard suites. The rooms were lovely and spotless, couldn't fault them one bit. Also used the spa facilities and really enjoyed it. The staff were lovely and went out of there way to make us welcome. Would definitely reccomend it and go back again.

This really is the most marvellous hotel and spa. I went with my daughters to celebrate birthdays - we were so well looked after. We had a suite which was in a cottage a few yards from the main building. It was spotlessly clean, quiet and comfortable. At last a coffee maker with instructions - we had breakfast in the hotel which was delicious. They have a chef who clearly knows what they are doing as the seasoning, presentation and quantities were just right. The small of the freshly baked croissants led to over indulgence. The hotel itself is a beautiful building and the gardens so pretty with the spring flowers. We felt well rested and pampered. The staff are so helpful and kind and polite. Fully recommend to anyone who appreciates peace and quiet. Ample parking.

Absolutely delightful long weekend at such an historic establishment. It was lovely to appreciate the grandeur of the rooms, and yet feel so comfortable at the same time. The staff were extremely charming and very helpful. The breakfast offering was varied and plentiful. We also enjoyed to pool and jacuzzi over at the spa. So convenient for accessing York centre or the racecourse.

Had a lovely couple days break at Middlethorpe. Beautiful hotel and grounds. We stayed in the courtyard in a suite was beautiful and very clean . Staff very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was gorgeous plenty of menu choice. Hope to return one day.

This is a wonderful venue, with first class service and excellent cooking. We had a Saturday lunch here that was a delight to eat. Beautifully maintained buildings and grounds just added to the pleasure of our dining experience.

Great spot for relaxing and visiting the city of York . Front desk staff helpful especially Henry who gave us a tip for a good dinner nearby . He was a real gem .Room was lovely and comfortable and to gaze upon the garden was a lovely perk . We really enjoyed the treats upon arrival as one is weary after a days travel ! The nightly offer of shoe polishing is something I’ve told many people about.
