Stayed here several times over the years - still lovely in a quiet location near the centre of town. Room was comfy and spacious, but no window to open for fresh air.||But a hotel offering no food? REALLY? Yes unfortunately - fond memories of the great meals and lovely breakfasts of the past in the dining room - no longer available. With meals go visits to the bar, wine etc...||Will the owners wake up to the fact that you are driving the guests into the arms of local restaurants (there are plenty within walking distance) and checking out early to go to the other end of town for an unlimited breakfast for 2 at under ÂŖ20?||Doubtful we'll be back, unless to up your game....

Whenever I find myself in Newark this is the place to stay, close enough to the center and has ample parking. Rooms are clean and warm, the staff always make you feel welcome

There was a big car park when I arrived and I found my way to reception and had to ring up as nobody there. That was ok as staff was showing someone to their room... ||I was staying there for the first time for an annual event I attend not far away.||On the phone I asked for a room overlooking the car park as I have a vehicle I need to keep an eye on. I got a room at the otherside, so i was in and out checking my vehicle during the night even though they have 24hr staff and CCTV as the car park isn't well lit.||On opening the room door it was hot and stuffy and I couldn't open the top sash window and there were no blinds or net curtains and I didn't fancy sprawling out naked trying to cool down with an open bottom window for all to see in ... I roasted all night. There is a fan, but it was of little use as I couldn't get the heat out and had to close the thick curtains ...It was like an oven.||The room itself is nice enough and the mood lighting is nice although the only bright light is by the door!, so it's hard to do any reading. Need a bright lamp by the bed. Keep the rest moof lighting though, that's a nice touch..||I was drained by the morning looking forward to a nice shower, and the shower was great 🙂 .... But, the wall lights again are very dim and the heat was still in the room. I struggled to do my make up with such dim lighting. Dim roof ceiling light would be great at night but please put brighter bulbs by the mirror.||I left the hotel sweaty, worn out and felt I must look awful could not do my make up properly .... ||If I was a man not needing to do make up and was on the top floor with the window open for the night, it might has resulted in a better review as the place generally is fine for the price and you can pay cash (even better)||If this was 4 in a bed feedback, this would be my feedback.||Charming helpful staff and very clean room and the dated bits don't bother me that much, it feels kinda homely.||Would have slept like a log in that comfy bed if I had privacy with the window and could leave top one open a bit securely.||Loved the outside facilities...I should have slept there ...That outdoor seating area is simply fabulous and a great attraction and the car park is big too.||Would you stay here again?||hmmmm!||No, not with windows and lighting like that in a downstairs room|Yes, but a top floor room and I'll take bulbs next time and hope they fit.||I kinda really like this place, but this stay has put me off for 2025 ... We shall see... I shall ring up and see what my room will be like ...

The lack of a restaurant didn't matter. We ate in a lovely Thai restaurant in the town, within easy walking distance. The receptionist was lovely and friendly. The room was absolutely fine. No issues with anything.

I booked this hotel at the last minute, as l wanted to visit family in the area. Very accessible car park. I had a warm welcome, in fact the staff have been amazing.

The hotel was very quiet with very few guests, sadly there was no access to having breakfast. My room was massive, clean, comfortable with vintage furniture.

Generally l had a Fabulous stay, though for the first time I have been struggling with trying to justify the price l paid for two nights.

I find it hard as l don't normally worry about the cost. I suppose it seemed so deserted, a few other guests, the kitchen is having work done, so it has been closed. A good bar is available, lots of space.

My five stars are for the staff, always attentive, welcoming on first name bases, and really happy to deal with any inquiry and help to make the atmosphere. With a smile. 💗

Our double room was spacious, warm and comfortable. The bed although not big was comfortable. Close to town river and the castle. Good shower and bathroom area with lovely large towels. Plenty of parking. Coffee making facilities, No fridge.
