We have just checked out after doing the “Tranquility Escape” experience. On arrival, we were greeted and offered a complimentary coffee. The reception staff were great, and so was Crystal who served in the restaurant. It was a shame that one of the managers (younger lady with black hair) proceeded to shout at her in front of the guests regarding failing to check something for another guest, not very professional at all! We were shown to our room (the Tiny Double) and were very disappointed. The room was indeed tiny and claustrophobic, in a poor state of repair, the hot tap was leaking, there was no headboard and there was an error with the TV. Not what we would expect for a 4-star hotel. We did visit the spa, which was lovely. The service from the staff in the spa was brilliant, and the facilities were lovely. Flexibility on spa access (you could use right up until 9pm if you wanted) which was great. We did end up moving to the Strawberry Hill room, which was much better and more spacious, although again I wouldn’t say up to 4 star standard, and the decor could do with updating. Breakfast was lovely though, and again Crystal’s service was great, I hope SOMEONE in management does praise her. I certainly wouldn’t recommend for an overnight stay, and I don’t consider it to have been good value for money, but the spa and service generally was good.

We came there for lunch and some drinks. Immediately after entering we were greeted very nicely at the reception. Then directed to the "Bistro" where we could order our lunch and drinks. |We were greeted by a very nice waitress with beautiful tattoos (Eva?) So brave woman! |She took us to a table where she explained everything we could order and which options were gluten free (unfortunately the menu is very poorly done, only few gf options) but Eva made sure we ate something we liked and could ! |The food was very tasty. |The portions were big and worth the price.|The coffee was delicious!|The restaurant is clean and tidy. Beautiful view from the window of the huge garden! |Definitely worth visiting this place, we will definitely come back!

Truly lovely overnight spa break.||This was our third overnight visit to Charlton House. I'd bought an overnight stay (with breakfast) on a cracking Black Friday deal, which always helps.||We were very pleased with our room (25), which had its own patio area leading out to the gardens. The room was spacious and comfortable. There were no maintenance issues. The decor is 'shabby chic', so much better than soulless modern hotel rooms.||The overnight stay allowed us access to the spa until 9pm, which was a real treat. I've visited the spa numerous times and always enjoy it. Especially after dark, when the facilities are quiet.||Part of our plans is the trip to Whitstones chippy for an eat in supper. Only 10 minutes away and great food ||Breakfast was included in the package and was very tasty. The continental breakfast options had diminished since Monitigo took over. However there was a full plate of hot breakfast and we left well fed.||We enjoyed a second visit to the spa, before making the short trip home.||What others haven't enjoyed - the decor - I feel makes the place relaxed and homely. ||I will be looking out for another offer to hopefully enable me to return in the autumn.

Me and my mum came for a spa night away for Mother’s Day. The room, dinner, breakfast and hotel facilities were all lovely. However the Spa was incredibly disappointing, the pool was out of use until around lunchtime, the steam room wasn’t working at all all day. 1 of the 2 available toilets in the ladies was out of order which meant there was always a wait, 1 of the 3 showers was also broken which again meant a wait for this facility. With the pool (the main and biggest feature of this spa) unavailable it meant the small outdoor hot tub was always full and all seating was also taken. We had treatments booked at 2-4pm and with the pool and steam room out of use all morning we didn’t really feel like we’d been to a spa.
The treatments we both had were amazing and the therapist can’t be faulted at all! But the treatment rooms are very small, I had to ask for the music to be turned down a few times because it kept crackling and making me jump (my therapist agreed this was irritating) and my mums room you could hear construction.
As a hotel it’s amazing but the spa day was far from good. This was all mentioned at check out to be told “I’ll pass this information on” with no compensation or real apology.
Not sure we’d return.

Absolutely brilliant stay.

We had a great room, friendly welcome, the service we received from start to finish was impeccable.

The food at Dinner and at breakfast was amazing. Really great setting for a mini break, we are so used to going to cornwall for our mini breaks, we are glad we chose to head into Somerset for this one. We will be back I am sure, but only if we can keep the same room 😉

The spa facilities were great, would be helpful if "Spa" towels were left with robes and flip flops.. as we had a bit of trouble finding some.

Our room was lovely, really quirky, clean and comfortable, as for the second bathroom, and mezzanine (Wow) really great to have a little extra space for a bit of childish fun.

The waitresses last night were very good, especially the newer member of staff when a guest was being a little rude, she was very polite.

We've come back from a 2 night stay and have to say we had a great experience. On arrival my husband told the gentleman at reception it was his birthday and whilst we sat enjoying the complimentary tea and coffee in the garden he arranged to have chocolate truffles in the room ready for our arrival - this level of detail continued throughout the visit with lovely morning breakfasts and a super curry night last night...our room was lovely and quirky, with a shabby but beautifully stylish design. It opened up into the outdoor courtyard area where some elements of the spa were located providing us with direct access - today on our last day we got talking to Will, the SPA manager/ attendant and he was so knowledgable and helpful in explaining how to use the various components on offer for health benefits, guiding us and reassuring us in the use of the plunge pool even... yes, we plunged! Yes, it was cold! But great .. we loved our time here from start to finish and will definately be back... we topped our visit off today with a visit to Wells which is not far away, they have market days on Wednesdays and Saturdays - we highly recommend both!! ... and will definately be back.

Me and my girlfriend had a lovely stay here last weekend. The spa facilities and gym are fantastic and the building itself is lovely. A much more intimate and luxurious spa hotel experience than others we have been to, and at a lower price! Peter was very helpful and welcoming. We will be going back very soon!

What a wonderful weekend. Helpful and friendly staff (shout out to Peter and Maddie), really lovely food (bistro salads are excellent and a good deal). And the room was very very special. I saw a few of the rooms and they are all unique and curated beautifully. Don't hesitate to book in and chill out in style.
