I visited this restaurant recently, and while the food itself was not horrible , the overall experience was quite disappointing due to poor customer service. When we arrived, no staff acknowledged us until we called someone over just to get a menu. When it came time to order, no one came to our table—we had to go up to the till ourselves.

The wait for the food was also long, taking about 40 minutes to arrive. What made things more frustrating was that the people serving us appeared to be children between (12 and 15 years old )with no training in customer service. One of them seemed completely uninterested in helping us.

Got some takeaway from here the other day and ended up a disappointed considering the positive reviews I read before ordering.

I've included a picture of the receipt as it says "jerk chicken x2" and we only got one piece? £3 is expensive for a single chewy drumstick and it didn't really taste of much, just a little sour and spicy, dominant flavour was chicken.

I've had Jolof rice before and really enjoyed it but this stuff tasted like smoke, think Walkers BBQ crisps but without any sweetness and you're in the right ballpark. Both the beef and chicken with each portion were bland and very tough, the beef took a fair bit of sawing with a steak knife to get through and everything was so dry I had to keep a glass of water on hand.

The fish stew was the best tasting dish by far but the two pieces of fish were riddled with tiny bones and still had the dorsal spines on, i get it will likely be delivered chunked up and frozen but it wouldn't be hard to take a bit more care so people aren't picking food back out of their mouths to avoid swallowing needle sharp spines.

Overall, not great and we're unlikely to come back, which is a shame, I've eaten and cooked a lot of Afro Caribbean food before and this is my first negative experience. Sorry

Mum’s Sensation is a great find in Peterborough. We wanted a taste of Naija and we got it. A very friendly and homely environment with authentic yet affordable Nigerian cuisine. Love our visits and would highly recommend when you’re in the area.

The best Afro cuisine in the whole of Cambridgeshire! Amazing food & service always! Since living in London I haven’t found anywhere with traditional authentic tasty food until I found this place 6 months ago. I’ve probably tried most the menu by now and it’s definitely been a sensational experience each and every time! I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!

Customer service is non existent. Passively rude owners.

I had Afang and pounded yam. Afang wasn't obviously freshly made despite the owner insisting it was but the " poundo yam" was freshly made. Soup was ok but considering the bragging about their food being freshly made and having to wait for a minimum of twenty minutes was very off putting.

The ewa agoyin obviously not made fresh was not good tasting. I can't even describe it.

Food is incredibly cheap. My wife had pounded yam and they were so big with the soup enough to eat the two wraps she had. I had ofada and it was a little bit undercooked buh the chicken more than made up for it. Owner is nice though. I would definitely go here frequently and tell people about it too

Desk service was lovely and place was busy enough. Took the food home and opened up the curry goat to my surprise it was watery like a stew rather than a curry and there was hardly any goat meat with the exception of a few chunks. First impression was terrible and won’t be going back ever again.
