We stayed for one night and really enjoyed our stay at Newell. Tracey upgraded us to Room 1. It is spacious and recently decorated all tastefully furnished. A comfortable double bed, and a good sized shower in the bathroom. There is double glazing, and blackout screen as well as curtains, so we didnt hear the traffic on Greenhill. There is a convenient corner in the coridoor for tea and coffeemaking with milk, water, and biscuits. Convenient location: a 2 min walk to the top of Cheap Street via Back Lane. We strongly recomment visiting the new art centre, The Sherborne!

What a gem. Unfortunately we didn’t have the opportunity to dine in the restaurant, apart from breakfast, but our room was perfect for a one night stay for a concert at the Merrit Centre. The room was spotless, a good size, parking on site, tea and coffee making facilities in a little kitchen on the landing, with everything thought of. The location was excellent for Sherborne, about 15 minute walk to the abbey. |Breakfast was a minimal choice, but well presented, and extremely reasonable.

My partner and I stayed one night at The Newell. We were very happy with our stay. Tracey greeted us on arrival and upgraded our room. The room was spotless and had lovely decor. The bathroom was huge and again spotless. Would definitely stay again.

Awful place! Hair on bedding, bathroom extremely dirty. Stool left in toilet - horrendous! No tea or coffee facilities in room, bizarre and really not acceptable. Breakfast was basic! Advertises 'a la carte' but is not and way overpriced. Would not stay here again or recommend

My wife and I stayed in one of the hotels as we were celebrating my parents anniversary who live in Sherborne. We did not eat at the restaurant.the hotel check in was easy, the service we received very good. The room itself was quite small but has everything you would expect. The bed though was uncomfortable hence the average rating as for the price paid I would hope for a better nights sleep. Everything else though good, you have tea and coffee facilities in a kitchen on the same floor, the shower was excellent and the TV fine.||The reality is if they stuck a premier inn bed in one of the rooms I would have scored this 4 starts for sure.

There was an awful greasy smell and a stench of dirty plates. The ones running it were so far up their own backsides.

Our first visit to Newell. 4 of us went for an anniversary lunch and it was excellent. A very varied menu, which was fully explained to us and it was refreshing to have different options to those usually offered by many restaurants. Every single dish was excellently cooked, presented and tasted delicious. Very pleasant, intimate atmosphere. Very efficient, knowledgeable but unobtrusive service. Incredible value for money. Highly recommended
