Formerly known as The Grange, this is a great hotel situated near the centre of York.
Clean, comfortable rooms with some quirky, fun features…..a record player and LP’s, kettle and coffee maker inside a dolls house and a fantastic pantry open to guests for snacks, milk, nonalcoholic beverages and fresh milk.
Great attention to detail throughout.
Parking available if booked in advance.
The hotel is a merger of two properties therefore has many stair cases joining different levels.
There is a Bar and choice of two lounge areas with board games, cards, dominoes and connect 4 provided.
We didn’t get to use the dining facilities
but would recommend and stay again.

I had a lovely mum-to-be massage at the spa (I wasn't staying at the hotel). The venue is really luxurious, dark and cosy to relax you beforehand. You can sit down, listen to relaxing music and grab some water before your therapist collects you. I had Mal who was lovely - really friendly and informative with a gentle manner and tone. The massage was probably the best I've had. Great pressure, felt productive, covered all the sections I'd have hoped for. Ended with a lovely calming facial and head massage. I really enjoyed it. I also got a little sample of the rose and jojoba oil she used and super personal notes about recovery which is a nice touch. My skin was left glowing and I had none of my typical pregnancy aches by that evening.

This was a beautiful hotel with spacious and attractive rooms. Record players were included in each room with a large selection of music available next to the front desk. Water was provided in the rooms each day, along with an impressive selection of candy, chips, drinks, and ice cream available for free in the upstairs pantry. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was excellent, but be sure to check the start time and make a reservation. We did not eat dinner here because of the pricing. Location was also excellent. It was about a 12-minute walk to the train station and a 10-minute walk to the wall. Uber rides were also plentiful. The extra bike service to pick up our bags at the train station was a brilliant touch and much appreciated. My only suggestion for improvement would be to upgrade the mattresses. But we will definitely be back!

We stayed at No1 York House again on a recent visit to York theatre. The room was nicely decorated with a super comfortable bed. We also had a delicious breakfast, the coffee could be stronger but that’s just my personal preference. The staff are very friendly and made our trip extra special. The pantry is a nice extra touch.

Myself and my 2 daughters aged 7 & 10 had a brilliant couple of nights staying at no1 guesthouse. All the staff were so friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. The luggage collection at York station was a brilliant service as we could head straight into town to explore. My daughters very much enjoyed the pantry and made multiple trips! We didn’t eat at the hotel but the restaurant looked nice. We popped into the bakers opposite called “Dough” and picked up some delicious pastries one morning. Bedroom a bit small as we had the extra bed set up but ok for a shorter stay. All in all a great couple of nights I would certainly stay again,

we stayed here for 2 nights (with Richard Mooradian) and we had the most incredible time. The room was so comfortable and sweet and had everything we needed. The hotel and room were so beautifully decorated and the location was amazing and right near the city centre. We were checked in on Saturday and was greeted by the most amazing person, so friendly and remembered us when we walked past every time (specific about this so you know which employee it is). I was also assisted on Monday the 14th at approx. at around 08:50 (specific about this so you know which employee it is) by the person working reception who helped me figure out which coffee pod was decaf and which wasn't. So friendly and helpful. Will recommend and will stay here again

Fabulous hotel. The decor really stood out. The room was very nice loved the four poster king sized bed plenty of room the dogs loved the treats in the room and the complimentary pantry was usedfor crisps and sweets a very good idea. Also I can’t forget to mention the pearly cow restaurant the food was outstanding especially the duck and sticky toffee soufflé very fluffy.

The hotel has a private club experience. |it is located in a nice and quite neighbourhood very close to the main attractions of York. |the design is beautiful and original. |The dining and bar experience is excellent and the service is high end and classy, but not posh. |the staff is very friendly and helpful from check in to check out and also very nice with the dog. |the hotel is dog friendly and it creates a lovely atmosphere.
