Excellent place to stay, room was large with its own sitting room/kitchenette, good bathroom and comfortable bed. Nice and quiet despite being next to the main road. Lots to see and do in the town and the surrounding area.

Stayed for 2 nights, bed very comfy, position very good, opposite castle & registry office, suite warm and spacious. However a nightmare to find when it's dark & pouring with rain - don't think the locals know it's there. No tea bags and no drying up cloth provided, washing up liquid less than 1/2 full and sticky. Toiletries in bathroom used, no shower gel in dispenser, loo seat wobbly. A dirty serviette left on the table in lounge. inadequate lighting in the courtyard, press pad to get in tempermental (took several tries & a call to Daniel) Parking a problem, one of the suggested places easy to miss in the dark & flow of traffic (a nearby pub) the other we never found! Parked about 5 mins walk away, think it was called St Marks Place, & really reasonable for 24 hours. |This is more of an air b 'n'b type place & having had one poor experience (also in Newark) I said I would never do it again. More attention needs to be paid to cleaning here and checking the details. Probably ok if your young & don't mind a bit of inconvenience but not for us in our 70's

Cannot recommend. Misleading. Steep stairs. To be fair. Comfortable bed ,spacious room (not a suite )fiddly touch pads. Faulty shower , one window lacking blind.. Daniel did respond immediately and a handyman was sent. Disappointing. By no means in the same class as other places where we have stayed this long trip. Cannot recommend. ( Only a fan. Will be warm in warm weather.)

we really enjoyed our stay. The rooms and bathrooms where spotless. We met the cleaning lady while we were there, she was very helpful and welcoming. The rooms are a very good size for what you pay. Definitely recommend and will be staying here again😄

We stayed in the Moutney suite for one night with our two children. |The pictures advertised of this room type, are in fact, the Ossington suite. That far exceeds the reality of the Moutney suite and I feel false advertising.|The Moutney suite was littered with issues; dirty carpets, chipped crockery and old mattresses..we tried to open the windows but the blinds were covered in grime with cobwebs and dead spiders all around. We wore flips flops as didn't want to put bare feet on the floors.|The room was 30 degrees when we arrived and when we tried to have a bath we couldn't because the plug was missing. There was nowhere to hang the shower head nor a shower curtain and trying to have a shower was risky as the bath wasn't attached to the floor, and unless standing right in the middle, it went to tip over. It did that with my 7 yr old in it, who isn't heavy, so quite a safety worry...|On top of all else, a faulty security light outside tripped on and off every 3 minutes through night hours, so rest was also impossible (on top of the old springy mattress - I made the error of removing the bed sheet to look!).|We stayed here after a long day clearing the house of my recently deceased aunt and I needed comfort, which I didn't get, sadly :-(.|I have been in touch with the company directly, but for a £140 cost (no breakfast), they're only offering to return £40, so sadly, I've been forced to take to here to get a reply from them.|Be wary!!!

Fantastic location and beautiful room with all the amenities to make me feel home from home. My room was up a steep flight of stairs and i arrived at night so it was hard to type in the code as the automatic light kept switching off. Also as a solo traveller, it was disconcerting not being able to lock the room from the inside. I wondered if the security code was changed after each stay. The bed was super comfy and I had a great stay. Fantastic restaurants are a stone’s throw away.

Lovely clean room with comfortable bed and a great shower. The bonus of a mini fridge, kettle and toaster made the stay even better. Communication from the host was great and everything about checking in was straight forward. Lovely building and great view of the castle. Highly recommend!

Pros good for town centre, light airy rooms,great fast contact with Daniel, quite building. Cons not able to lock room from inside (yes it's a key pad so in theory only you have key)a simple bolt on inside door would help. No spare blankets, could not turn on heating,(some people feel the cold more than others) had to contact owner for internet code(that could have been given with key codes) .not so much as a con the front door is fairly heavy/stiff to open (might have been tension spring to wound up) older people than us will have trouble opening . Overall it is a great place to stay rooms large great bathroom kitchen area(not sure if coffee satchets are replaced daily would have preferred coffee rather than latte) but compared with other establishments no 1 on my list
