Fabulous breakfast.. perfect poached eggs! We always stay here. Julie, the Receptionist .. is a joy.. thorough and so professional. This was our fourth visit. The hotel is located in a quiet area of Colchester, with good restaurants, nearby. Full of character, complete with a lovely bar/ cocktail area. Would thoroughly recommend.|Mary & Bill Johnson

We arrived at around 5pm on Thursday 29th May and was told there was no on street parking until 6pm when it was free. I was under the impression that the hotel had a car park which was not the case. We were directed to the NCP car park around the corner which had no right turn, so took a detour around Colchester. We had paid £83 upfront for room only which I thought was quite steep. The lovely lady reception told me to take a photo of the useful information . We were staying at the top in room 21, the first thing we noticed was how incredibly hot the room was. After returning from dinner in a local Japanese restaurant we tried to log into the wifi, this proved impossible at there was no username just a password, so my husband went downstairs to try and resurrect the situation. It turns out it is not possible to get the wifi up in room21 so I had to use my data. We had also only been given one of everything: one mug, one towel, one glass. So again had to go downstairs to ask for more amenities. ||We then noticed the fan did not work this was replaced quickly but was extremely loud. We had both windows open all night which meant disrupted sleep but the room was so hot it was unbearable. I also noticed the telephone would randomly light up in the night which again was very disruptive. I have contacted the hotel about the inadequate stay and have yet to have a response. ||We shall not be staying here again

A very friendly place, but only does Bed and Breakfast though there is a wine bar on site - however a good variety of eating places nearby. Having said they do B&B, on Sunday no cooked breakfast is available for which we receied a significant discount for the cost of Saturday night. The cooked breakfasts on the other 2 days were excellent and cooked to order. ||There is no on-site parking, although there is a paid car park across the road and overnight there is parking on the road. When we needed a taxi, it was clear that the hotel staff had a good rapport with local drivers. ||Our room was separated via a corridor from the main hotel and up two flight of stairs (no lift) so those with a mobility issue need to let the hotel know in advance. The bedroom was though very spacious albeit somewhat sparsley furnished and would have benefited more soaps etc being provided. The bed was comfortable and the room was warm (it being February). ||In summary a B&B rather than a hotel, very frindly staff, comfortable and excellent cooked breakfast. Dinner not served, no breakfast on a Sunday morning and no on-site parking. Would though stay again if visiting Colcchester on business.

We stayed two nights at the North Hill Hotel. Our apartment room was spotless, spacious and comfortable. Chris, the manager, was so helpful and provided stellar service. The breakfast was delicious and portions were generous. Parking out front on Sunday was free. Other times you will need to use a paid lot.

Booked here as part of a group.|Lack of parking was a problem, but fortunately we were playing the local theatre and was allowed to leave my vehicle there.||The room was in the attic, no good for the elderly or anyone who suffers walking. Lovely room, superb bathroom, bed a little too firm for us.||The bar area is excellent with a good selection of drinks.||Breakfast was superb! Served by a lovely blonde lady who professional, polite & courteous

Very nice hotel, clean room with very comfortable bed, great breakfast and nice bar/lounge area for a nightcap. Walk to everywhere in Colchester. We did not have a vehicle so not sure about parking. Very reasonable price.

Small outdated room. Very small tv. Very noisy from traffic and hear everything through walls from other rooms . Far too warm in room . Sleepless night . No parking . Steep hill to climb

I had originally booked the Holiday Inn express but decided to stay more central and pleased that I did. The Hotel has a lovely boutique feel to it and although I booked the small single as on my own, the bed was really comfortable and the shower was amazing. Breakfast brought back memories of the old days, when staff take your order and it is all brought to your table…fresh. Excellent value and an easy walk to everything that Colchester has to offer. Easy walk from station too.||It is very obvious that it is privately owned as the welcome was personal and friendly…Thanks Julie
