Lovely charismatic cottage, interesting room designs. Would praise the facility admin, a great friendly lady, provided lots of support. Rooms nice and spacious, bright, with a good view. The hand towel however was discolored and old, and should be replaced. There was a red stain (lipstick , blood?) on the sink. More attention needs to be paid to that. The facilities are good, the canteen with teapot, fridge, toaster, you can use it freely. Sadly there was no sink to wash hands or veggies and drain liquids in the canteen, would be a great add-on! The garden is spacious. There is a hot tub, but I didn't use it. There were quite a bit of people in the queue for the evening, so I did not want to go. Better use in the morning and be first. The facility policy needs to be updated, it says I can use barbecue, so I bought sausages, wood pellets, but the owner said no 😔 Parking was ok, could always find a place. Without a car it would be hard to descend to the town center, the cottage is on a cliff! So it would be hard walking.

Beautiful place to stay we loved every minute of the stay. Darren was so helpful, the retreat was lovely and clean and tidy, breakfast choice was great. The hot tub and sauna was a fantastic extra especially as the weather on our stay was in the 20’s. We will definitely be returning.

We have just arrived home after a few days at Northrise Retreat We could not fault it in any way. Very friendly staff could not do enough for you nothing was to much trouble. We cannot recommend it to much room was excellent breakfast was self service buffet style, just have what you wanted. Tea and coffee was available 24 hours a day if you wanted a cup. The room was kept spotless and the bed was huge.

I've just had a lovely stay here!
All the text instructions I recieved were easy to follow. The room was clean, the bed was comfy and the tv had netflix so all good there!

Breakfast was continental and there was plenty to choose from. Good range of hot and cold drinks too.

I stayed on a Sunday night and as a consequence had the hot tub and sauna to myself all evening. It was like having my own luxury spa - what's not to like?

Karen was very helpful and friendly and I would definitely choose Northrise Retreat again next time I'm down. Thank you.

Lovely host and staff, friendly and helpful.
Rooms clean and spacious. Very good value.
Decent breakfast, choice of cereals, pasties, Crumpets, toast , Yoghurt and fruit.

A friendly and well presented house with great views over the surroundings and super clean facilities. ||As it's within a residential area, it's quiet and relaxed. The hot tub in the garden is clean and well maintained with robes/towels available to use for an under the stars dip.||Breakfast is self serve in a bright dining area with a good choice of things. Also there is a microwave and fridge for you to use if you need it which is very handy.

This is a 3 out of 5 for an hotel, which this is not.||||I will explain.||||This is a very good score. Also this is written by an over 65 whose wife is a year older and I been around as a news editor with millions of words written as investigated news stories. As for places to stay especially work - been there done that.||||Northrise Retreat (NR) is more like a glorified spare room.co.uk or Air B&B, which the latter it also offers.||||We should know this as having bought a former hotel, The Beacon (Mike Oldfield fame) and faced the last recession and tried a few things like holiday lets and spare room etc.||||NR prices though are more than two thirds of the price of the absolute pick of the hotels in our neck of the woods. Here I mean some of the very best. This includes one near our local coast with beach front views, old Monterey Pine trees which you can sit under to sip drinks etc and look at sand dunes. You know what I mean - an hotel.||||This place in Ore, East Sussex has little or no front of house, like you would find even at a Travelodge (which by the way their rooms can be awful) just a find-your-key-via-a-text.||||So if you are a jobbing builder, on a contract, need some temporary accommodation NR would be spot on as the rooms, showers, heating, beds etc top notch. Everything else a proper hotel offers is simply not there. So not for older people wanting the real deal. I did shake hands briefly with Darren, a bit like ships passing in the night. That was my experience of front of house.||||This lack of care was a real pain after a seven hour drive including the massive traffic jams at Hastings. We pressed the door bell and there was the buzzer and Darren pressing this good ole buzzer saying get the key and let ourselves in. By the way our actual room was changed twice before we arrived and then was a differnent one when we eventually got there, maybe a record who knows?||||Also, there is no cuisine at all, just a do it yourself kitchen. First night we had to track down some fish and chips and guess what? there was absolutely no tomato sauce in the NR kitchen. On top of this there is the debacle over parking which definitely is parking next to the property actually tyres on the pavement sort of job - if you can find a space.||||Now for the good things the room excellent, bed great and shower brilliant and heating top notch. Though washing hands in the bathroom, well, I think loads of others came before us. The liquid soap virtually empty, so very well used.

I stayed here to attend a family funeral. It's a lovely place. Darren was a great host, couldn't do enuff for u . Thank you for everything and for making my stay less stressful at our hard time .
