We celebrated our wedding at Northside Farm in April 2024.

From our first viewing we knew it was the place for us- we were looking for a relaxed venue and plenty of space for our family and friends to stay with us on-site and Northside did not disappoint!

The location is fantastic- very rural and peaceful but only 20 minutes from Newcastle, so guests who weren’t staying with us were able to easily get taxis back into town at the end of the night.

The main barn where we had our ceremony was beautiful! It barely needed decorating and we had plenty of time to set up the day before. It was fantastic to have the cottages and glamping pods the night before the wedding also which made for a relaxing ‘wedding eve’ catching up with our loved ones… and trying out the zipline!

Samantha was incredible as our first point of contact- nothing was too much trouble and the whole team at Northside Farm made everything go very smoothly on the day. We didn’t need to worry about anything knowing that we were in such safe hands. The food was lovely and all of our guests had a fabulous time.

Northside is such a special place, and we can’t wait to come back and experience the glamping pods next time! We couldn’t recommend it enough.

Thank you. ❤

Working with Northside on weddings is always a pleasure. Their friendly and very capable team are wonderful and the space is obviously gorgeous too. We have attended a few non wedding events there, such as comedy night and these have always been fabulous with great food and drinks.

Lovely countryside setting and well presented building for photos etc.
No good for large party of guests, even if it's just for the evening reception. There's just not enough space for everyone to sit so 30 plus people standing for 3 plus hours is to be expected. The removal of round tables, after the meal, and the addition of smaller tables and benches would have opened up the space better for the evening, to help with the crammed feeling.
The floors are all stone, most of it has underfloor heating and there was a good ambient temperature. However cramming a larger party into a small space means the air gets very hot very quickly once people start moving around.
Stone floors look lovely and traditional, however, they're hard on the feet and spine especially in heels... my advice, take some flats for the evening.
Small bar area with seating for 15 people, again not for larger parties, prices are about what you have to expect now £4 a bottle of cider, £2 half of coke. They do take card and cash.
There's space in the hall for the top table and several round tables seating 8 comfortably. The evening switch around allowed for the small dance floor, but this made everything even more cramped. Not enough space for everyone to have a bit boogie, it reminded me of sardines at one point.
The toilets are unisex but well presented. There is parking for staying guests and invited guests, but limited space on grass. I certainly wouldn't want to park on grass in bad weather. Again for the ladies the outside ground is grass and stone chippings, not great for walking on with heels.
Guests who were staying over for the weekend said that their "tent" was freezing (October) they'd brought 2 quilts from home and 2 were supplied by Northside farm, but it was still too cold, when spending over £200 for the tent they'd expected it to be cozy.
Food: where to start? Dry, dry, dry. The sit down meal was overcooked, dry and hard to chew, even my uncle (who eats everything and anything) struggled. At the price, it should've been better. The option chosen for the evening reception was pulled pork rolls and wedges.
Again, not suitable for large parties, no where to sit and a queue of 30plus people backed up against tables at either side and people trying to squeeze past for the toilets which were opposite the serving area!?
The pork was, in one word, disgusting. Dry and chewy much like the wedges.
In a nutshell, great for photos, terrible for space and food.
Small gatherings will enjoy the space!
P.S. In reply to Northside points - this is my honest and fair opinion, good and bad. I cannot comment on what could have been, only what was!
The evening food was served adjacent to the toilets! There's no corridor that I saw unless they're referring to the little entry way. I could see people coming in and out of the toilets from the queue! They had to push past the queue to get back to where they were standing.
The food was chewy and dry, fact!
The tents were there, used and cold. The couple staying were talking about it to our group and that's what I was commenting on, more so people are aware for future visits!
The outside firepit was not lit until after 9pm, it was certainly ready to be lit, but it was not lit. So the seating probably wasn't utilised as it could have been.
You can open the doors ventilation, not disputing that!
Pretty low key to say you'll contact the couple when they'll have more going on than to want to bother with 1 night of poor food!
