I raised my concerns with the manager Emma who after a week hasn't come back to me, the issues are:|||1. Noise from Private Event|Upon our arrival, we were informed a private event with a disco was scheduled to take place during our stay. Unfortunately, this event was not disclosed at the time of booking. Had we been aware, we might have considered alternative accommodations, as we have young children and were seeking a quiet environment. As it was a wedding, this would have been booked well in advance so could have been communicated at time of booking and we were told the DJ was booked until midnight. Our two young kids were staying with us and we like them to be down by 9pm, this wasn't possible with the noise.||On top of this pre the wedding starting the reception had a coach load (25ish)from a rugby team who lets say "had started drinking early", the vile language meant that we left our drinks and headed to the room for the sake of our kids. You market as a family hotel but have rugby teams staying, these two group don't mix. My kids when playing on the Xbox and kids play area to be subject to the vile language we experienced feet away? Would you be happy if you had your own young family members experiencing this? ||2. Reception Service|We noticed that there were often queues at reception, which sometimes led to delays as it was understaffed. While we understand that peak times can be busy, we felt that the wait times were longer than expected, which affected our overall experience.||3. Pool Availability Miscommunication|Prior to our arrival, we confirmed that the hotel pool was open and pre-booked a 10:00 AM slot for our family. However, we were awoken at 8:00 AM by a phone call and informed that the pool was closed.

Here at the moment returning family but first time inclusive of breakfast which is truly exceptional. This is our third stay here.|Staff are all lovely, parking charge is reasonable, great quality sleep til the kids upstairs start running riot! Pool and sauna an added bonus. Can't be faulted, highly recommended. Great location.

Could be a great hotel but sadly a lot wrong.|Near the centre, short walk to Castle Musuem.|Sadly the state of the carpets in the room was disgusting, drip and tea marks all over and even the hall carpets were stained.|The pillows were the worse we have ever tried to sleep on and for the price we paid they should of been better.|The room was way to warm, a/c was rubbish.|Our room though quiet though overlooked the carpark and a roof.|The pool is a laugh, 10 people in and it's full, add kids to the mix and no way can you swim. Adults only times would be better.|It's the little things that put me off returning and could easily be made better.

Check in was very slow, and staff didn't really say much and explain the issue as to why it was taking so long, then my key didn't even work so I had to go back downstairs. Didn't use any pool/spa facilities. Room was good. We used the conference facilities and these were as described. Helpful staff. Breakfast was good.

as a couple we’ve stopped in just about every hotel in York and then we found this one a while back,wife loved it. Good atmosphere clean and nice location and loved a soak in the bath.|Now it’s cost cutting for maximum profit.|I always go for a larger room because I like space but the personality seems to have gone,shame,|Why put a carton of water in the mini fridge but not have a glass to drink it from?|Car parking and breakfast now hikes the price up.||I don’t think we will stop here again.

Roomy and clean, nice bathroom. Aircon wasn’t great and obviously controlled. We turned it off and opened the window to turn cool the room down. Easy walk into the main centre. Buffet dinner was nice however we were told 6.30 to 8.30 but that didn’t seem to be the case. At 7.30 when we got to dessert there was little left and it was not being replenished and was told what was left was it. At around 7.40pm about 5 staff came out and cleaned up the rest of the main food with plates for themselves and put them behind the counter obviously to have later. A bit of bad luck if you were out and came in after 7.30pm wanting dinner.

Sadly I can't say I'll be returning to this hotel. I stayed two nights over the course of a week so had two different rooms, both of which had horrible staining on the carpets and chairs. The cleanliness really left a lot to be desired. In both rooms the air conditioning didn't work so was uncomfortably warm. In one room the drains in the bathroom smelled horrible any time I used the tap so was hesitant to use the facilities at all. In both rooms there was mold on the bottom of the shower curtains.

Check-in was also extremely slow even though I had done the pre-checkin procedure before hand. When I finally checked in the receptionist gave me the wrong room number so the card didn't open the door. This could have caused an uncomfortable situation had another guest been in the room I was attempting to open. I had to go back to reception where another staff member had to investigate before informing me of the correct room number.

The hotel also charges £17 per night for use of a very basic car park. While this is advertised on their website I can't see how the price is justified. They certainly aren't using the money to improve the upkeep of the car park or the hotel rooms. Breakfast and a 30 minute pool session are are extra and not included in the price of the room.

The bar area and restaurant are nice, if a little over priced, but the cleanliness and upkeep of the rooms are atrocious.

Great hotel. Very friendly staff. Hotel was spotlessly clean. Pool area was immaculate and great to use with kids. You have to pre book a 30 minute slot each day for pool, but this means it’s not very busy when you are using it. Rooms were clean & ideal for family. Situated just on the edge of city so ideal for accessing the centre of York on foot. Great choice for breakfast and there was a lovely lounge area which is ideal for chilling out with kids while enjoying a drink.
