We had the champagne afternoon tea which was delicious. The sandwiches scones and desserts. The service was very good and the waitress replaced our jam and cream as needed a refill without us needing to ask. The choice of teas was lovely, would have loved to try them all!

If you are looking for a romantic getaway in the middle of London, this place can't be beat. It is wonderful in every possible way, from the large rooms to the wonderful breakfasts to the garden to the friendly and very helpful staff. The owner, Kit Kemp, who is a famous interior designer, has spared no expense in making the hotel inviting. She calls it a "boutique hotel," but you could also see it as a somewhat large B & B. It consists of three row houses combined and refurbished, but it has lost none of its charm.||The location is also great. It is 5 minutes' walk from the South Kensington tube stop. If you are coming in from Heathrow, take the Piccadilly line directly there. If you are coming in by train from St. Pancras, also take the Piccadilly line directly there. The V & A Museum and the Natural History Museum are about 10 minutes' walk away. There are numerous restaurants around the corner. ||Breakfast is great. There is an extensive buffet with granola, muesli, fruit, yogurt, and pastries. There is also a full English breakfast available, including eggs, sausages, baked beans, and the rest. If you want an English high tea, they do it, but you have to reserve it in advance.||The garden in the back is beautiful and well landscaped. There are koi swimming back and forth in a rectangular "pond." There are tables and chairs for guests to use.||I've traveled to over 50 countries and this is certainly in my top three or four hotels worldwide. The only minus is that it is not cheap, but given what you get in return, it is well worth the price. It is an intimate luxury hotel and a real gem.

Second visit and loved it. Great to stay in a small leafy environment in centre of a city. Great staff and lovely quiet rooms. Can sit in garden at breakfast and honesty bar for evenings. Lots of restaurants close by. Very near to South Kensington subway. Rooms not large but so much nicer than big commercial corporate hotels. Looking forward to next stay already.

Went for afternoon tea. Was immediately treated like we were intruding when we entered the hotel even though we asked politely where the afternoon tea room was (we were not dressed crazy or improper and we also had a reservation). The garden was lovely and very pretty, but the service throughout was subpar with no one asking how our meal was nor could we get a refill on tea since we could not find our waiter. The tea itself was very nice and the scones were very good, but the rest was average at best. Considering this is an expensive hotel, I expected it to be more accommodating or at least friendlier.

Quite a mediocre hotel, especially for the price. I was in a luxury room, but it was quite small and there was no coffee machine and I was told I had to pay 10 pounds if I wanted a coffee machine. During the day there was construction work that made it hard to do any reading or anything in the room. There was no available water except for a single bottle unless you wanted to pay for it at the tiny “bar.” This would be a fine hotel at half the price but it is definitely not a five star hotel.

I went there for afternoon tea. It is one of the best places I tried. The sandwiches selection and desserts looked nice and tasted good. The staff were nice and friendly. It was busy and they were 2 and they were trying their best to accommodate everyone. Taki was very helpful and accommodating for our requirements. Overall it is highly recommended.

My sister, niece and I travelled for a quick stay in London. After days in France sharing rooms and apartments, we were looking for a quiet place with private rooms. Number Sixteen offers 4 single rooms and we were lucky enough to reserve 3 of them for the dates we needed. The hotel is in a perfect location on a street around the corner from the South Kensington tube station and near to pubs and other restaurants. Our rooms were adorable, twin+ beds, small closet, desk and bathroom (think cruise ship size!). Comfortable and charming. The hotel offers breakfast and afternoon tea both indoors and in their gorgeous back garden and there are also two lovely parlors inside with an "honesty bar" for drink and snacks. I also fell in love with the Kit Kemp toiletries offered in our room and wished I'd had room in my luggage to bring home with me. Savoring the hand lotion and linen spray left for us to enjoy that I brought home with fond memories of a lovely stay.

Tea here is a major disappointment. We went to the Chelsea Flower Show-themed tea and there was nothing floral about it. I let them know ahead of time I was vegetarian and was served white bread with cheap shredded cheese for almost $100USD. The desserts were all stale - the macaroon was hard to bite. The service was poor and they forgot items, with milk arriving once the tea was already cold. It’s a beautiful setting and cool hotel (although the lobby was full of flies) but for $200+ between three of us (no booze), a huge rip-off.
